Go ahead and kill DST clock changes. But please, PLEASE....
... do NOT switch to "permanent" DST; go back to Standard Time!! (< note tiny little raging icon)
If we go to permanent DST, that will work for a lot of businesses, schools, gov't agencies, etc,
BUT...
...that will mean the US will eternally be one hour off from the rest of the planet, which makes no g*****n sense whatsoever! IIRC, the rest of the planet (save North Korea) is all on the same standard.
Yeah, many "businesses, schools, gov't agencies, etc" (see above) may prefer the DST schedule, over the course of a year, but just let them change their own business hours to match their preferences. Painful, maybe very painful, up front, but it makes much more sense to just do the painful thing right up front, and get it over with.
If we switch to "permanent DST", we will ALWAYS be one hour off from the rest of the world, which again makes not g*****n sense! Just like sticking to the English system of measurements (which not even the English do anymore); so stupid for me to have a toolchest full of inch sockets, another full of metric sockets (oh, and a third full of Torx drivers cuz I bought a BMW, but that's my stupid fault). Argh!
[/screaming old man off soap box]. I'm gonna dry-brine my cheekun and do dishes now, see you guys tomorrow, in

@Botch- I used to be "for" until I was "against" the roll ahead to DST. (Professional poly-speak right there!!) Living in the far western edge of the Eastern time zone the shift will have major impact on children going to school. Around here sunrise in November-today is in the mid/late 7 AM hour. Push that up another hour with permanent DST and that's too much dark on the front end of the day for the benefits on the back end.
And if you live in AZ or HI it is not an issue.
One opinion with a lawn...Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
Haha Botch, please explain to me why you care so much about this WHEN YOU ARE RETIRED!"I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

Probably because all of the school kids walk across his lawn, too early, on their way to school. Same here plus they set off my watch dog who bark at 100 plus decibels.
