I keep seeing the pop up ads for DuckDuckGO on the internet, but also I am hearing their commercials on our local radio stations.

The idea that it is "free" makes me question the offer.

Does anyone here have experience and want to tell me their opinion and personal experience ?

It's a search engine that is free just like Google is free. I've used it occasionally but have no idea if it is better than Google.
I'm guessing it claims some advantages over Google but I've never bothered to really take a close look at all the other search engines on the net and just rely on Google 98% of the time.

@RRP web browsing has turned to more to web crawling...DDG, "reportedly", doesn't track your data or store cookies longer than necessary. Google and Safari track every site you attend and intern sell that information to advertisers.  There are AI tools and API hooks in place that can make this eerily quick..hence why some are thinking their phones are listening to them.

said all that to say this...I'm a fan of DDG

I've used it for years, because it doesn't keep a record of your searches like Google does. I like that.

i stick with google. not sure if its their tracking or not but their searches seem to improve over time, even in just a few days. somehow i get sent into bing randomly though, bing sucks. im ok if a search engine gets to know me.....ddg is coming on strong with advertising, seems they did this before a while back, probably didnt work that well for them.

I've been playing with an App called "Swizztube" from Apple's App Store.  It allows you to click on DuckDuckGo, Google, Ewetube (and a fourth program I'm unfamiliar with).  I just clicked on the DDG icon and it took me directly to that search engine, no ads at all.
I had originally downloaded it to get back to watching ewetubes without the ads, it works for that but I'm not able to Maximize the playing window, so I'm still searching.
One caveat, I did have to use my Google account to start up Swizztube, so they're probably tracking my searches anyway; but as long as the ads are gone I guess I'm okay with that.  ymmv.

EDIT:  I just double-checked, the fourth program is "Twitch", which appears to be a user-content video service like EweTube.  It went straight into it.
