BGE integrated Nest osmotic blistering

Has anyone ever had this happen to their integrated Nest?
I have spoken to a local fabricating company who have advised this is a manufacturing problem (osmotic blistering)
This was purchased from BGE in 2022

tubing is pretty dirty and oily as a stock product, its more likely it wasnt cleaned properly. places near me that powdercoat, bead blast it just before it goes in the oven. im assuming this was powder coated as theres no drips from a quick spray job showing

Would you say this should be covered under the manufacturer warranty? Clearly, this isn't anything I have caused as shown in the pictures. The bubbling clearly indicates there was a contaminant underneath the coating. I understand general wear and tear and rust, the coating is peeling away from the steel.fishlessman said:tubing is pretty dirty and oily as a stock product, its more likely it wasnt cleaned properly. places near me that powdercoat, bead blast it just before it goes in the oven. im assuming this was powder coated as theres no drips from a quick spray job showing -
Wouldn’t bother me, but I’d check where I bought it

i would agree it should be covered. im not up to date with the metal parts warranty though....3 years? its not a simple rust issue, i would consider it a defect the way it looks. i would get the pics over to bge, then the dealer to avoid any issue that may come up, but then theres the issue of it not being a standard egg part ie., nest so get that clarified with bge as well.

Its only a year old and for the price this isn't good. its only going to get worse its not going to get betterlkapigian said:Wouldn’t bother me, but I’d check where I bought it -
I came here figuring you were being an anal but yeah I would have them warranty that. It was obviously a manufacturer mistake, looks like they forgot to dip it in a tank before paint.South of Columbus, Ohio.

For me it’s hard to swallow paying for a premium product and it deteriorating like it came from harbor freightSouth of Columbus, Ohio.

That’s why I don’t buy “ for looks” stuff, like those dang pillows Linda keeps putting on the bed that we just have to take offalaskanassasin said:For me it’s hard to swallow paying for a premium product and it deteriorating like it came from harbor freightVisalia, Ca @lkapigian -
She probably goes that because you ruined her fancy white bath towels with her embroidered initial to wrap your first pork butt in for the cooler...lkapigian said:

My wife bought feather pillows for the couches about six months ago. Turns out I got them when we separated. It wasn't a win, the damned feather stems are poking me all the time and the feathers are coming out of the damned pillows constantly. I'm starting to think that the fuzzy little misses was playing the long game all along, knowing we were going to separate and giving me the pillows that would force me to vacuum twice as much. Subtle but effective.

Similar to the BGE bands and original Nest on the Egg. Rusting always appears as blisters under the paint first.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas

Wouldn’t hurt to reach out to HQ. One time I brought back a cast iron dutch oven because you could literally see through it in one spot. HQ had received calls from others with the same problem. They were glad I was bringing them an example to have on hand for whoever the supplier was. You may not have same outcome but worth a try, especially with others here feeling it is a defect.

I guess if you are unhappy with it, you should take it back to your dealer and tell them how disappointed you are. Give them an opportunity to make it right.
Posting 16 photos on an internet forum isn't going to make it go any smoother. Plus, even if the people here all say it is warranty-able (I made that up) it will be up to your dealer and/or BGE.
Start there and then let us know so I can decide whether I want to get mine replaced.Clinton, Iowa -
Take it to back to Costco.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

Different issue than yours, but I will state that I’ve been disappointed with the aging of the powder coated steel components from BGE.JohnPhillips said:
