    Trying hard to see what the downside is to exploring/developing this sort of technology.

    Can't think of any. Seems to me these type of efforts would be applauded by people of every political stripe.

    If we stop eating real chicken, then the chicken hunters could be out of jobs and most certainly won't need as many guns.  I think this is the line of thinking.

    Guns don't kill chickens. Chickens kill chickens. 

    If every "good" chicken was armed, like a "well regulated" chicken militia, chicken deaths would dwindle to zero. Then there would be enough chickens for everyone, and we wouldn't need synthetic chicken. 

    I think that's OP's argument.

    I figured you'd eventually get the "well regulated" part. All it needed was a simple enough explanation. And, some crayons.
