Hi all: It is hard to believe that I have been a BGE user since 2005. I still have the same Large Egg. Well, I decided to put my on-camera talent and video editing capabilities to good use and create my own YouTube channel. I have finished my first video about doing delicious BBQ ribs on the egg, and I could use your help. I need to get some likes and subscriptions to my channel, so if you all could invest a moment to view the first video in brilliant 4K, I would greatly appreciate it. The vid took 8 hours to shoot and over 20 hours to edit, but it was all done with love; the results speak for themselves! Here is the lnk.
Thanks, Uncle Phil

Dobie coming in hot.

Sweet Jesus this is a ventriloquist act. No. So much no.

Pretty high quality production, especially for this being your first video.
Since you posted here, I will provide what I hope is seen as constructive feedback:
1. The ventriloquist act was funny, and I loved his hat, but it took away from the actual content. Since 'Dude' never came back, maybe you thought the same?
2. The cuts between scenes were well done and made a clean professional presentation.
3. Ribs looked good, gave a lot of good information.
4. Don't pour the grease from foil down the drain. You will have problems in the future.
5. Introducing your secret sauce and saying how great it is, then saying you won't share is very off-putting. You are a content creator and an educator.
Maybe say it has this basic base and this is why it pairs well with ribs, or give a slightly different recipe that hits the high points but not all the details. Does it help the ribs because it is tomatoe based, vinegar based, sweet, spicy, etc? Why is this the sauce for ribs .... Or just say, "Pair it with your favorite sauce, here is my homemade one I enjoy".
Overall, I say stick with you, looks like you have a great start and your kitchen indoor and outdoor is beautiful.Maybe your purpose in life is only to serve as an example for others? - LPL

You are a content creator and an educator. My earlier snark aside, This was, in fact, the worst part of it. The whole reason anyone would ever sit through this would be to get your secret tips and tricks. You gave everyone the cringe and kept your “secret” to yourself. Just lie to them and give them something but this part was not good.

You should replace the ventriloquist with an animated sugar glider. This guy is a good example, he has a funny fish: https://youtu.be/CZNEQFp9FYw
Maybe make a special episode about secret pizza dough recipe?
Nice video, I’d be curious to know about the tools that you used for the video editing.____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli -

You might want to check out some of "Dark Side of the Grill" videos, just for style pointers. He's managed to build up a pretty loyal following. Here's an example:

Perhaps he took the forum's collective wisdom and is busy back at the drawing board? remember this ...The vid took 8 hours to shoot and over 20 hours to editcanuckland

We're not the right audience for a video on how to cook ribs, most everyone knows multiple ways that are on here. This is for youtube where the right audience exists for basic rib cook info.
I did do a little research because I was curious about one thing and the research bore that out.
Love you bro! -

I disagree @Legume (except about how many people like ventriloquists... that bit is spot on). Only clowns are more scary than ventriloquist dummies.
My read was that OP is seeking comments/opinions about the video itself, not necessarily about the subject of the video. There are scads of "how to smoke/grill/bbq ribs" videos, all with who knows how many views. And counting.
IMO, nixing the ventriloquism bit would be a vast improvement.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Good luck, do whatever style of video is fun, rewarding and true to yourself. Any changes you make outside of that in order to chase the satisfaction of others is eventually at your own expense.
