Yesterday we had a BAD storm!

Trouble is that tree is maple which I don't care to use for smoke. Soooo off to the burn pit!

At least it didn't damage my 3 eggs out there! :)

Same here, Ron. It was pretty wicked at my house. I have tree's down on the property that I need to clean up.

Glad that was all you got.

Glad you didn’t have any major damage. I’ve not used maple. I’d have to give it a go.

You just burn the maple?  I like maple after it is fully seasoned.  Just a little bit with chicken or pork.

I guess when you are surrounded by good woods it is easy to just burn it.  Especially if you have ready access to oak, apple, pecan, guava, cherry, peach, pear, orange, or hickory.

Maybe your purpose in life is only to serve as an example for others? - LPL

Pretty entertaining here around 5 PM (EDT) last evening although the one that ripped thru here early last Sunday PM did the more serious damage. Closed a major road for better than 10 hours.  BTW-also took out the power for around 8 hours.
Way to dodge a serious bullet right there.
Regarding maple, I have infrequently smoked with it and do enjoy using the maple lump that I overpay for from the GWN every year.  It has a noticeable sweet aroma.  FWIW-
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Are you talking Basque’s Nature’s Own Sugar Maple? That’s my go-to! Rockwood of the North?! 😂

Yep as I can't get Maple Leaf out of the GWN. I would love to have access to compare but the Basques is some great lump.  Great minds think alike.
Now if I could only get behind the wheel of your friend's Ferrari...

Maple Leaf and Basques are remarkably similar, IMO. Both rather neutral and cooperative.

Guess you might ultimately have to make a trek out this way for the true Maple Leaf experience (and to ride the neighbour’s whip). 🙂

Glad you didn’t have any window or worse damage Ron.   What wind speeds did that?

Mother Nature put a big part of a tree on my deck and roof during this years Austin Ice storm but overall damage was minor.   Really scary hearing massive iced tree branches falling ever 15 minutes the entire night.     The noise was 10 seconds of crunching,  like driving on the ice in Boston, followed by :: BOOM ::,  every 15 minutes.
