Temp gauge on the Egg

I'm using a Thermoworks grill temperature sensor and my XXL BGE temp gauge is ready about 60 degrees under what the sensor detects at the grate (about 1/3 from the front of the Egg).  How often do these built in temperature gauges need replacing?

You'll get two different readings from the grate and the dome thermometer. You can always double check the dome thermometer in a pot of boiling water and adjust it to the correct temp if the thermometer needs readjusting.

Gotta believe/trust your indications.  All BGE's come with a dome thermo and absent any descriptors, when cook temperature is referenced here convention yields to dome temp.
Just pick one and go with it-learn how your BGE responds and continue to have at it.

I hook my temp probe to the dome thermometer. They stay pretty close, but never exactly the same. Minor fluctuations are totally unimportant.

Calibrated the gauge but it was 200 on the first pass so that puts the delta at about 50 degrees from the dome to the grate.  Maybe the deflector radiates that much heat.  Either way, I can still get a good sense for the grate temp by adding 50.
