This is basically a Meater, with the important exception that it can connect over wireless, thus extending your range significantly.  There are other parts of it that appeal to me as well.  I might jump on it.

    It appears the ChefsTemp is using its base station/charger as the WiFi connection transceiver so it's not much different than the Meater in that regard if you get the Meater Block version which also has WiFi ability.

    Sure, but most people don’t have the Block Version.  And this is priced comparably to the single unit.

    I see that an additional feature that may be of interest/incentive to some is that the ChefsTemp folks say they will be releasing a fan in the near future that can be controlled by their app.
