    There's definitely a story behind that.  They just didn't come up with that on their own, one of their writers (or a friend/family of theirs) must have had one and dumped it over.

    I thought something similar, except I assumed inspiration was one of the writers having an insufferable and condescending neighbor or in-law who refuses to shut up about the virtues of their green cooking vessel.
