Cocktail peanut hack (sort of)

Apologies if this has been discussed in the past but I love cocktail peanuts and love BBQ rubs/seasonings.

I like to work my way through a partial tin/can of Planter's cocktail peanuts then add bbq rub to the can, shake it up well and enjoy.

This run was Meat Church Holy Voodoo...added a nice little kick to a favorite snack.

Sounds interesting - I knew a guy who would pour out a can of fresh, still rather oily salted peanuts and sprinkle Mexene Chili Powder on them! He always laughed that nobody else in his home would eat them so they were always ALL HIS!!!

Sounds like a good idea.  And here I thought you were wading into the great debate on which brand of cola is best for dropping peanuts.
    Love you bro!
  • We do something similar to this, but with microwave popcorn.  Open the bag, pour in some rub and shake - adds a pretty nice twist over just the usual salt and butter.

Hahaha, being from TX I would go RC Cola IF I was steering the conversation that direction but to each their own.

This is the sole reason we keep John Henry Mojave garlic stocked.

For those who have reasonable access to Total Wine and More stores, they carry many flavoured (nod) peanuts sourced from The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg linked here (https://www.thepeanutshop.com/category/seasoned) and quite a bit cheaper, $7/same sized can.  FWIW-
BTW-this is a forum cheap spend rabbit hole.

That's why I always get jalapeños on my pizza. No one else in my house will eat it.

Anchovies go good with carmalized onion, a little balsamic, and gorgonzola topped on a pizza. Not a fan with them on a sauce and cheese pizza

I actually put anchovies in my favorite meatloaf recipe. I always tell people who grimace at the thought that until you have tried the recipe don’t knock the thought!

I chuckle when people ask why my Caesar dressing tastes so good. They never believe me. I’m with @fishlessman, on a white pie, but not so much with tomato.

I've posted this before, but a reminder is okay.  The way to really bump up the umami in a dish, is to boost both the Glutamates, and the Nucleotides, in a dish; when both are present  )they somehow amplify each other and boost things a magnitude or so.  I have this printed out and taped to the inside door of my spice cabinet.

(and I just noticed, what are the two ingredients in Japanese dashi , the flavor-bomb soup broth?   ;) )

My honest story about guests we had years ago where I had served them a Caesar Salad. The guy said something like..,”WOW that was a taste I’ve never had…what was the taste?”

I started to recite the ingredients  and about the time I said “raw egg” both he and his wife about blew up! Turned out Gordon was highly allergic to chicken eggs in any form which I did not know! Thankfully his wife’s purse was close by with some medicine in such an emergency! {which also kept him from barfing on our carpet much less dribbles shall we say from the other end on the race to a toilet!
