Cole slaw recipe

There was a Cole slaw recipe that I found through here that was very good. I believe it was on the other forum. The fella had went through several versions and the last one had pickle juice and some bacon. Does anyone have the recipe?

I don't remember any cole slaw recipes.  But, did the fella look like this?

I am picking up some of his cole slaw to go with my beef ribs on Sunday.

  • I’ve got several, just depending on what you are looking for. My go to is the old chick-fil-a one. Let me know kind of what you are looking for and I can probably help. I don’t have one with pickle juice though.

This one was the guy's project it seems. He had several different versions he posted with slight tweaks. I could have swore I saved it, but I can't even find a broken link. @rrp @RRP aka Ron Pratt, Dunlap, IL do you remember anything like that?

Yeah I think that forum is history. @egret has a website that might be able to help you out.  I believe he has some recipes saved.

replacing the white vinegar with pickle juice may be a good idea 🤔

I’ve been making this recipe for years and everyone loves it!

    KFC Coleslaw

    1/2 cup mayonnaise

    1/3 cup granulated sugar

    1/4 cup milk

    1/4 cup buttermilk

    2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice

    1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/8 teaspoon pepper

8 cups finely chopped cabbage (about 1 head) 1/4 cup shredded carrot (1 medium carrot)

    2 tablespoons minced onion

     1. Be sure cabbage and carrots are chopped up into very fine pieces (about the size of rice).

    2. Combine the mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and pepper in a large bowl and beat until

    smooth.

    3. Add the cabbage, carrots, and onion, and mix well.

    4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Serves 10 to 12.

That was a picture from the last time I made it. I'm afraid to put it in the Google 😐. It may pop up results. I also don't have Facebook. It was a dang good recipe. I'll try one of the others mentioned on here. Thanks everyone

My new favorite is to add a little sesame seed oil to Cole slaw. Gives it a little Asian spin that is really a great compliment.

    @Elijah

    - Is this what you are looking for?  This is NOT my recipe.
    - I snagged this off the Brethren Board I believe.  Your post rang a bell with me.  I handwritten this which I believe was the final iteration that the poster whose name escapes me posted.  Ironically, I have his first iteration of this coleslaw also handwritten.
    - I have been searching the Brethren Forum and can't put my hands on the original posting.

                                                     Main Ingredients:

    1 head cabbage, grated.

    1 pound bacon, thin sliced

    1 each carrot, finely grated.

    1 each sweet onion, minced.

    3 each green onion, minced.

1 large kosher dill pickle minced or grated.

                                                     Dressing Ingredients:

    3 cloves garlic, squeezed.

    1 cup buttermilk

    2 cups mayonnaise

1/4 cup kosher dill pickle juice

    2 tablespoons mustard

    3 tablespoons lemon juice

    2 teaspoons salt

    1 teaspoon black pepper

    1 tablespoon celery seed

    1/4 cup sugar

    1 pinch cayenne pepper

    1.            Cut each slice of bacon into 1/2-inch pieces.

    2.            Sauté the bacon until crisp.

    3.            Drain bacon through a colander or on a paper towel to remove oil and fat.

    4.            Allow bacon to cool.

    5.            In a large mixing bowl add the cabbage, carrot, onion, dill pickle and bacon.

    6.            In a separate bowl combine the buttermilk and mayonnaise and whisk together.

    7.            Add all remaining ingredients to this bowl and whisk together until it is all incorporated.

    8.            Pour this mixture over the cabbage, carrot, onion and dill pickle mixture and fully incorporate.

    9.            Tastes best if allowed to rest overnight in the refrigerator allowing the flavors to mix together

The power of suggestion is strong here. I must attempt and partake of this hidden gem of nutriment.
