BBQ Sauce, anyone try this before?

Had this when we were in Vegas this past week and I really liked it. They don't sell it in KY that I can find yet, but hoping there's a shop online that does. It used to be for sale on Amazon, but it looks like they don't anymore. I found an email address on Amazon and have emailed them. But that post on Amazon was almost 10 years ago...

Description: "Casey's Home Run Heater Has A Hint Of Hickory Smoke With A Combination Of Ghost And Habanero Peppers That Give It A Nice Heat, But Is Not Overwhelming."

Anyone in CA seen this? Would be willing to pay for shipping if someone has access to it.

Living in Vegas, I have never seen it before. Where did you have it at?
    Las Vegas, NV

  • Just googling around a little, it looks like it is made by a restaurant that is perhaps closed.  It’s a little difficult to tell.

They have a Facebook page with a link to a website, but that link doesn’t really take you anyplace useful.   This stuff might be really tough to source, @JohnfromKentucky

Dang, didn't know that. Aren't you the LEO? My son is in the academy.

We ate at the Benny's Smokin' BBQ & Brews inside the Binion Casino on Freemont. They had the sauce on the tables.
  • @JohnInCarolina
Yeah, they sold it on Amazon previously. Not sure if they are closed or not, people left reviews last Oct. I don't expect anyone to know, but thought I would throw it out there.

I just realized that "LEO" is both Low-Earth Orbit and Law Enforcement Officer.

I am, is he in the academy here?

After doing a google search, looks like they originated out of Ridgecrest, Ca. About 150 miles from here. Home of China Lake Naval Air station. We travel near there often. I will keep an eye out and let you know if I come across some.

It would be my guess, if they are inside a casino, they likely sold the recipe to a packaging company. It is probably sold under a different label that is more available.

the flavor and the heat. The heat is subtle and is at the end. for me, it was the perfect sauce and I want to try it on wings.
  • @Battleborn
no, he's in the academy here in KY. He has about a month and a half left.

I appreciate if you do see some, don't go out of your way.  I should have looked at the other side of the label and seen if some other company is making it.

Dumb question, have you tried contacting Benny's for their supplier or buyer contact info?

I was just thinking there is near zero web evidence about this sauce, no stores list it, no food company or distributor, etc.  I would bet the restaurant has it for sale. It's probably in that casino because it's semi local, someone's brother or uncle, etc., but with little online presence, start with the source in Ridgecrest.

The story I'm making up is that since the original company seems to have closed down a few years ago the restaurant that has it is just clearing out the tens of cases they bought back in the day as a favor to their old pal Mr. Casey.
Guessing the "Best Before" date on that bottle is "03/30/2018.

If you look up the restaurant in google maps, it appears to be open, recent reviews, etc.

  • I had emailed them the other day using the email I found on Amazon in a picture of the label. I heard back from them today!

"I got your email from the other Casey's Sauces email account. I thank you for the compliment on the Heater BBQ Sauce. That's my favorite as well.
Right now we are completely out of both of our bbq sauces, Heater and Original. I placed an order with our production company 4 weeks ago, but the company we use in Anaheim CA is waiting for one of our ingredients to show up at the plant. They ordered the ingredient the same day I placed our order. This ingredient comes from New York.
The other problem is, since the shipping prices went crazy, we stopped shipping our sauces and just delivered bulk to local areas. But I am looking for a way to ship and use the PayPal account as a way for payment. I will let you know when I come up with a solution. It is pretty expensive to ship product across the US."

Nice end to the story.  Hope you get some of their stuff soon enough!
