OT- Speed Queen

Hey folks, I know this belongs on the OT side of things but I thought I would get a broader audience from gen pop.
I am immediately in the market for a washing machine, our maytag is roughly 2 years old and the mother board fried last year, maytag reluctantly repaired this as it was out of the one year warranty by a small margin. A week ago the tranny started slinging oil all over the floor, naturally I cleaned it up and put some cardboard down until I can address it. With the motherboard, transmission (now slipping), and constantly the loads are off balance, something squeaked for months and quit, anyway I am out.
Enter the Speed Queen TC5 classic clean. Anyone have one or recommend/have experience with Speed Queen? I am torn between that or just buying a cheap Amana. My clothes are heavy and dirty as it gets.
South of Columbus, Ohio.

Based in YouTube service folks, the basic Speed Queen is hard to beat for longevity and service ability.

It will be a interesting aesthetic with the big silver maytag dryer. You guys aren't talking me out of it.

There are a couple speed queens in the family, and we were in need of a new washer and got one a couple months ago. Twice it has flooded out, causing some minor cosmetic and electrical damage in our laundry room. Apparently the auto-fill sensor will not always work correctly with a bulky load (e.g. a comforter or some blankets) and will overfill. They told my wife that for that kind of load you have to manually control the water fill. Not sure what exactly is involved in that process, but I was very disappointed that after the significant cost and good reputation, it could have this kind of flaw. Now I'm always kind of nervous when it is running, afraid that I'll walk into the laundry room to find another flood. Otherwise, when it works it seems to work well, and fast. None of the family members with speed queens have had that problem to my knowledge.(After more than a decade of lurking, how is it that my second or third post on the forum is about a dang washing machine? Like I've gotten old or something.)LSG 20x42 offset, LBGE, 36" BS griddle, and more. Piedmont Triad, North Carolina.

We got an LG top load washer for our kids laundry room. It has been pretty good so far. My wife wants to replace our perfectly good washer with an LG top load now. It has no center agitator and cleans really well.

I am going to walk through lowes tonight but the speed queen is at the top of the list, they have them in stock 30 miles away. @stever1888 is giving me reason to let off the gas. I did not see anything pop up on google about over flowing unless your water pressure was under 20 psi.

I vote for the Amana. You could likely fix it with duct tape and chewing gum if anything breaks. The last time I walked through the washer/dryer section, I almost passed out when I saw the price tags.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Looking now at the speed queen website, I think it is the TR7, but not positive. It its a top-loader, has buttons instead of knobs, and the lid lock feature.

Speed Queen has no equal.

Sounds like SpeedQueen is to washers that Bosch is to dishwashers.

Speed queens here. We put dual top loaders in at our last house. We bought one when we moved to current house and we will move it to new house. At our campground we run three coin-op versions.
Ours runs nearly all day every day with our family of 9.
We went thru multiple front load and top load washers before settling. I think we installed 3 different new washers in one year at our last house before trying speed queen. Capacity is on the low end. That's why we went with 2 SQ washers and one SQ dryer in our last remodel. We have been buying the most basic version that we can.Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

My wife has been selling appliances for 25 years. She recommends Speed Queen to everyone.Side note… She also try’s to dissuade folks from any type of Samsung appliance.

I have a Speed Queen set purchased in 2015. The Speed Queen set replaced a 1988 Maytag set. Only time will tell if the Speed Queen will last as long as the Maytag did. My initial thoughts are the Speed Queen is equal in quality to the Maytag. The Speed Queen is certainly in another league compared to other brands currently on the market.
I highly recommend the traditional top loading Speed Queen. -
A couple of years ago, we needed a new set. i did the research and determined Speed Queen is the way to go. Wilma looked at them and we ended up with LG. I was a little disappointed until she reminded me she does the laundry. Not me.Flint, Michigan
