Pocket Knives EDC/Collection

With the recent talks about pocket knives I'd be interested in seeing what other people carry or knives that they have collected?

Here's a mashup of my knives. Nothing fancy but more sentimental than anything.

This was my first knife given to me when I was 7-8 years old by my Dad:

This was my second knife that I received from my Dad when I was maybe a freshman in highschool.

These knives came off my Grandpa's farm.

This knife is from a close family friend who was a mechanic that owned a shop that unfortunately is no longer with us. He left this behind for me.

I picked this one up a few years ago.

Here's my cheap everyday beater.

I'm thinking I'll grab an Civivi Elementum 2 when they have a few more options to choose from here in the next few months.

Pretty basic and simple. Nothing fancy but I'm curious what others might have sitting around or using for a EDC. What do you have????

Very nice knives, love the stories.  Here is the one I happen to have in my pocket at the moment.  Not as nice as your Sheepdog with the blue pivot washer and 154CM, but a great and fun knife.  Works really well.

years and I do mean YEARS ago as a child I thought I had quite a collection, but then I either sold them, traded them, lost them or probably one *sshole kid stole them!!! - but anyway - this Kershaw was to become my daily carry since I don't care for weight in my pocket - as I ALWAYS loved the "switch blade" action of a spring loaded knife!

The smaller unique knife is one I purchased way back in maybe 1956 called a Christy - the blade slides back into the handle for protection...but crappy sharpening is apparent!

Are you allowed to carry a switchblade in Illinois? Freaking Minnesota and their stupid laws. We aren't allowed to carry a switchblade but we can carry a fixed knife with no blade restrictions. Makes perfect sense....

There is a difference between a switch blade and “power unfolding” or whatever they call it.

I believe MN considers anything spring loaded a "switchblade". I may be wrong but I think we are 1 of 5 states that can't carry one.

Hahaha yes sir.   I love their assist opening but don’t enjoy their steel.   They clean up easily but dull quickly.   I’m probably just lazy in that regard, but they are fun.

That is a Centofante 3.  Love the Mili.

My dad has a Centofante (pre 2000) with composite grips of some sort, nice knife.

I like the Kershaw too. Being able to open to locked and close one handed is a win for me.

Now here is a topic I can get behind.  Here is my small collection.
    Knives of note:
In the first picture the two knives on the right are Chris Reeve Sebenzas with titanium scales.  The far right Sebenza has a beautiful Damascus blade.  It is definitely my finest knife.

In the second picture the knife on the far left is a Spyderco Harpy.  I pointed this knife out to my wife when watching the movie “Hannibal” more than 20 years ago.  It was the knife Lector used in Florence.  It wound up under the Xmas tree a couple of months later.  Also in this picture is probably one for the baddest folders out there—Spyderco Paramilitary with titanium scales.  Come to think of it, that knife was a gift from my wife as well.

For the last 30:years I have carried a SAK Victorinox Tinker on my key chain.

Love your knife collection…BUT as a woodworker PLEASE tell me more about that  BEAUTIFUL wooden tool chest!
  • Thanks, @RRP.  The tool chest is a Gerstner.  I love it.

Har har..guess I will just have to wait until I commit some sort of “stoppable offense” to see if I then get frisked down! Hopefully as a 78 year old fart I will not have a warrant out for my arrest! OTOH I have no desire to EVER ago back to Chicago

Some beautiful collections in here.  Here are most my EDCs.  I used to have a Ken Onion Kershaw Scallion that was a perfect EDC.  However, I forgot I had it in my pocket and the TSA wasn't pleased and would not let me keep it.  They also did not have a shipping kiosk available.  So that went into the trash, which I assume was dug out as soon as i left and line slowed down.

You will notice the crooked river has a chip out of the scales.  I am not impressed with Benchmade's wooden scales.  They also won't sell me a set, I have to send it in and they will replace it under warranty.

The Marbles fixed blade was a highschool graduation gift.  Made in Michigan version, prior to them closing down and their name being bought by a Chinese company. The "oldtimer" was my wife's grandfather's pocket knife.

when I lived in nc you could bid on knives the airport confiscated at the NC Surplus auction website, drug and tax confiscations included. You never knew what was going to be in that auction, everything from rare coins to 80s caprice 7up paint job on 22” rims to literally tons if spent brass. https://recoup.bid.assetworks.com/bid/f?p=2501%3A4000

Hmmm, personally I sure would not have wanted to meet some dude in an alley who carried 22” rims in his pants!  Talk about a “junk yard dog”!

Can't touch any of the above and won't try-but here at the home of UPS (please notice) WorldPort facility, should you roll thru TSA screening with a knife that becomes confiscated you can ship it back to your address of choice for $20.  Everybody wins.  Seems like a lost money maker at other airports.  But what do I know-
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Thought you all might enjoy a Ruana Hatchet and knife.  Made in Montana.  This pair is probably the better part of 40 years old.  I've had them for around 20 of those.

Thanks Ozzie…too late now, but tomorrow I will post a picture of my Boy Scout axe and leather sheath I still have which my parents gave me in 1955. I still use it! Talk about a tool meant to last…at least 68 years so far
