The Chronicles of George Santos

And the hits keep coming:

https://www.thedailybeast.com/george-santos-stole-dollar3k-from-veteran-richard-osthoffs-gofundme-report-says

What a scumbag this guy is.  It seems like every day brings another story of some lie he's told.

Meanwhile all of this bad press hasn't made him toxic to the party.  Yesterday it came out that he's been given two committee assignments.  I am guessing that was a trade for agreeing to vote for McCarthy for speaker, but who knows. You'd think the party would maybe distance itself from the guy at this point, but who are we kidding, they're still licking Trump's balls.

Whoever was doing opposition research on behalf of George’s opponent needs to be banned from future elections.

I don't have any more time for that POS.  I have read and heard enough to know that the R's need to toss his A$$ to the curb, with or without McCarthy's richard in his mouth.
Sadly we likely have not plumbed the bottom of the cess-pool of political candidates.  F'me.

I like the fact that politicians aren't even trying anymore.  They used to pretend to be upstanding citizens.  Now they just brazenly go in for the grift.  No pretense.

And yet so many get elected. So who is at fault? Hard to blame the politicians if it still gets the votes.

Me too movement did him in after he gave an "unwanted" kiss to a conservative lady (radio ralk show personality) and I think he "air-honked" her lady lumps when she was sleeping (on a plane?).

    Something like that...

They would probably be more willing to oust him if New York’s governor was Republican. She would just appoint a democrat and they only have a five seat (or is it 4) majority. Maybe not right but it is politics after all.

My understanding is that a special election election would take place.

    Correct.

What Happens if George Santos Resigns?

Under the House Vacancy Clause in the U.S. Constitution, states have "Executive Authority" to hold a special election if a seat in the House becomes vacant. Each state can determine its own timing and circumstances of the election. In the state of New York, Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul would have 10 days to call a special election to replace Santos, which would have to be held between 70 to 80 days from the date of that proclamation -- if Santos resigns this year, during the first session of a Congress.

If Santos resigns during the second session of Congress, the amount of time between the vacancy and the next general election would play a role. Unlike the Seventeenth Amendment, which allows states to temporarily fill a vacant Senate seat before a special election is held, the House Vacancy Clause does not give states the same power in the House.

The Republican Party hasn’t had much luck with special elections lately. They would likely rather primary him in a couple of years.
