Al Forno style grilled pizza

Has anyone replicated Al Forno’s grilled pizza on their egg? We’ve gotta place around here that makes it exactly like Al Forno outta Providence RI. SWMBO said we should definitely try this on the egg.

  • I have not but I think I could probably come close to it.  That video is pretty helpful in terms of the kind of dough they’re using and the process.  Seems to me you could do this on a BGE, no problem.

I've done grilled pizza on my old gasser, haven't actually tried it on the Egg.  Its really a rush job, after flipping it once, to get the ingredients onto the crust so they can cook a bit before the bottom is done.

A few minutes, at most, per side.

Haven't watched the video, never grilled a pizza, but couldn't you remove the crust, add toppings, then put it back on the grill to finish?

I live about 45 minutes from Providence, thanks for the tip. SWMBO and I will definitely try this place.

    Thanks for the share!

I haven't grilled a pizza in years, I'm going to give it another swing sometime soon.

Place is excellent and not only is the grilled pizza killer but so is everything else on the menu. Homemade pasta, fried mozzarella. Mm mm.
  • I have always wanted to, but unfortunately have never done it.  It looks great.
