  • Such an intelligent post from someone that works at a university.  You should be so proud of all that education that wasted your parents money for all those years. 8th grade mentality on view here John.  Let’s move the bar up a bit to high school level posts….lol.  Your not impressing the new member with your supreme knowledge, based on your immature posts.  The new members are going to look at your post, your profile pic, and signature line and conclude that you are a “nut case”.
Which grade do they teach students the difference between “your” and “you’re” ?  Is it before or after 8th?

Some places 8th grade is the equivalent of senior year.

Well that’s when they get married so they don’t need to go to “graduate school” (high school)

When people, especially publicly, correct others’ mistakes, a lot of that has to do with signaling to other people,” says Robert Kurzban, a psychology professor at the University of Pennsylvania whose work focuses on the nature of evolved cognitive adaptations for social life. “People are trying to signal their expertise, because being able to identify mistakes indicates that you know more about something than the person who committed the error.”

Those who engage in public corrections of this sort often are looking to feel good about themselves, and, according to Benoît Monin, a psychology professor at Stanford University, displays of language all-knowing-ness provide a ready-made, two-pronged opportunity to do so. “The way we evaluate our competence is relative to other people,” he says. “If I need to feel good about my language skills, one way that I could do that would be to give myself evidence that my language skills are awesome. Another is to give myself evidence that other people’s language skills suck. So by putting down other people, I can make JIC feel good about himself.

That kind of kills the dichotomy between “Kanye” and “Conway”, Botch.

So liberal university professors are now a reliable source of fact?  I am so confused.

Confused? John is a liberal university professor.  He can’t dispute other liberal university professors can he?  That would be unethical at the least! Like calling the kettle black?

No worry…still have plenty of brain muscle left, even after 41 years in engineering.
But I do worry about you weed smoking libs in Colorado.  Especially in Boulder & Ft Collins.  You only have so many brain cells to operate on, and you are depleting them at a high rate.   Like John Denver’s song “Rocky Mountain High”….now I understand why your posts are so fuc_ked up.  Stoner.

@QDude you want to weigh in on Ft. Collins?  I just know it as a great beer town like Boulder, but Kansas here seems to have the big brain.

Yeah, I'm curious now also - are you a P.E. in Kansas or another state?

I took P.E. in many states and two countries.  It was my favorite class.  I wish they had an adult version.

The adult version is called CrossFit, but I've heard it often results in marriages being broken up so just be careful.

Engineers are almost as pretentious as doctors, but none of them compare to professors.
