Router table recommendations

Need to get one for small projects. Willing to pay for quality but on the same end .. don’t necessarily want to pay festool prices . I was looking at Bosch but actually looking at reviews they seem to not be that good of quality

You might look for one second hand. I picked up a Bosch router table a few weeks back and I paid less than 20% of what it would have cost me new. As a complete newb I'm sure it's way more than I need at this point. I did the same with my router and dovetail jig. (Goal is to make a box for my sous vide to practice on and eventually a box for a Christmas gift for my Dad.) A lot to learn on my end in a little time...

    @ColtsFan and @dbCooper..
that’s a negative. I’m in the weird generation gap where I can’t do much beyond basic computer skills.

  • I bought a table from Rockler and built a cabinet to sit it on. Turned out great and was a fun project.

I built my own router table.
    Three times now.
    They all sucked.

    1.  Don't use plywood as the main table.
    2.  Don't use Plexiglas as the router mounting plate.
    3.  Don't try to make your own fence.

Twenty years ago or so there was a company that made a cast-iron router table that would've replaced the right wing of my table saw, and used my tablesaw's fence as the router fence.  Clean, efficient, accurate, and took up NO additional shop space.  I didn't buy it then, and it's gone now.  Still kicking myself.
Good luck on your search, and if you find something workable, please let us know.

I made my own router table and fence. The router was embedded in a large workshop table, on a router plate. The fence was made of rectangular aluminum tubing and was very stout. It was capable of fine adjustments, but had no scale - I had to try a piece of scrap and work from there. It was fully successful. The key is to make things stiff. No shortcuts!

You near Austin?  I'll give you one (if its still in my garage).   I think its a Vermont American, not sure its made anymore.   Used it for a few years when I had an old house- been sitting around since.

Not sure what your budget is, but for tooling I tend to buy once, cry once. I have a SawStop table saw, and added the SawStop router table - very solid, seems to have good repeatability. My understanding is that this can be added on to any table saw.

@xfire_ATX I really appreciate it but no where near Austin, even in all my travels.

I found this one to be interesting:  Veritas Table for Compact Routers

Seems to right size for the amount of routing I do (or I call it board wasting as I mess it up more than not )

    Damn this forum.
I peeked in on a couple of tool sites this afternoon, and there ARE a couple manufacturers making cast-iron router table/tablesaw extension wings.  Rockler sells a good one, with a fence and a T-slot built-in; along with a suh-weet router lifter, all for about the price of a Medium BGE.

All you need to add to the shopping list is the Milwaukee 5625 - she’s a beast and will spin just about any bit you want to throw at it, except for really large panel raising ni and the like:

I still have one of those as well. It is more versatile than just being a router table as I adapted mine to use a sabre saw upside down of course with a metal cutting blade. I love it! Just like other tools some idiots decided other idiots couldn’t have enough common sense to not cut off a finger or “put an eye out” using it! I’m sure that is why those Vermont American tables are no longer available!
