I cooked a family pack of chicken breasts the other day on the BGE and realized that I wasn't going to finish them all before going bad. So I froze a couple of cooked chicken breasts. I'm looking to reheat them with the sous vide. I can't find any info about reheating frozen cooked chicken breasts. Has anyone done this? Time and temp? Thanks!

Never done it , but I’d think 150 is a safe bet , frozen probably a couple hours thawed and hour, just spit balling but that should be close

Hey thanks. That's what I was thinking. There's not too many posts that I could track down talking about it. I feel bad throwing chicken breasts out that have sat too long or I didn't get to. So I froze a few knowing I wouldn't probably finish them.

I did manage to find one post mentioning 1.75 to 2 hours for reheating. You're right in the ballpark as the post. Much appreciated @lkapigian

Since they are fully cooked already, they are food safe to eat if you wanted to chew on them frozen. So your SV time is just to reach the temp you want to eat them.
So get them up to 140 and flash them on a cast iron skillet if you want. You will be good.
Time will vary depending on how long it takes your SV to recover from the frozen chicken drop. Will also depend on how your chicken is frozen together. Single layer or lumped together will make a difference.
    Thank you,

  • @WeberWho I reheat from frozen, previously cooked in SV, tritips, beef short ribs, etc.  I reheat at the same temp that they were cooked in the SV.  You cannot tell they were previously cooked.

Hey thanks. I've done it a bunch of times with beef and pork. Never with poultry. I wasn't having any luck finding any general guidelines/times about reheating cooked chicken from frozen.
