    It’ll sell…
  • I remember my mother always kept a Folger’s coffee can with bacon grease in it.

I use a “Pig” for my rendered bacon fat.

Who is John Gordon?  Why does he make so much bacon?
    Love you bro!

I'll admit to buying that occasionally. I don't eat a lot of bacon thus I don't always have enough saved bacon fat for cornbread, eggs, whateva. So when I have run out I pay Mr. Gordon his due.

I keep a jar of bacon grease in the fridge. SWMBO learned quickly that we keep that 😂

The misses has ordered me that before.  Works well and is easy.  I usually keep bacon grease in a jar, but I do use this occasionally, especially if I don't want bacon bits and chunks in something I am cooking.  My jarred bacon is not strained or anything, just dumped out while hot into the jar.

Although I find that intriguing . . . I'm way too thrifty (cheap) to spend that much!   :D

My parents used to keep pork fat in the fridge in a can. My father would spread it cold, on his toast every morning, like butta. My mom used to kiss him goodbye too. I smelled her lips often, but never smelled greasy pork. The whole thing is still a mystery to me.

Bacon is getting pricey. I've got enough bacon and salt pork though to get by

There is so much to unpack here, and so many questions I have.
Probably best to just move along @Ozzie_Isaac

Cute, but I prefer using cup size Tupperware containers. Why? cauz I like to open a stored container and use it to the bottom and then open another one. I’ve just never been one to never get to the bottom of some bacon grease container. Right now I have 5 such cups full of bacon grease I have saved and a 6th Tupperware “open and being used”.

Given the price of bacon, that price is ball-park.
As soon as I start filling a third 28-oz can with breakfast bacon grease, the oldest can goes into the trash.  I don't have ant/fly issues here, and spiders don't seem to like it, so no refrigeration req'd.

do purchase jarred duck fat, however.

Go ahead and unpack if you want, and ask any questions you may have.

  • My mom and grandma always saved the bacon grease. People that lived in hard times knew not to throw anything away. I'm glad I lived the country life and we always killed hogs and had a smokehouse. We raised a garden and canned food as well. Its an art many no longer know but its nice that I can still do it if the need arises.

I always say guys who know all the old methods, will be eaten last when things go sideways!

People who only buy bacon grease at the store will be known as appetizers.
