I would batter and deep fry and call it calamari

butt, I think the key is to gently massage in a circular motion to tenderize

it loosens them up, or so I’ve heard.

Well, neither "hot poker" nor "soldering iron" (rod-mounted 1" copper cylinders we used in JrHS shop) gave me the image I was looking for, so I'll sit this one out.

I wish I could help, but the last ones I got were bone in. The bone went right down the center. Yours are inverted and mine weren't, this is probably good, as inverting it is probably what got the bone out of the middle of it. Honestly, I feel naive because on the order sheet I only put "three feet of pigs rectum", and it's no wonder they sent me the bone in ones since I didn't specify the boneness of it at all. The good news is that I feel like you posting that picture of your inverted pig rectums, somehow educated me today. You're like a teacher of pork rectums, not meaning you have a room full of pork rectums in little rows of chairs and you teach them as a career, that would stink. I think it's more like you're the guy that knows pork rectums inside and out, you must, since you ordered so many of them. Now you're slowly starting to share that knowledge ... and I commend you for that .. because I know my next pork rectums will be less crunchy in the middle as a result. There's something to be said for that.

At one time in my past, I worked for a food storage and distribution company.  This was one of the largest operations in the US.  We would receive many frozen commodities like this which basically were beef and pork parts that really could not be sold on open markets.  We would ship them to some domestic food processers as well and some foreign ones and they would use them to make higher quality bologna or sausages.  Some went to one of our most popular hot dog processers.

Like a good oyster, raw is the way to go. You might want to get a good dippin sauce.
