Plan ahead and enjoy a pour (or more) of your favorite bourbons Tuesday.  No need for any excuses.  It pairs well neat, with a splash of water or a bit of ice.  Go forth and celebrate!

Who the hell put national bourbon day on a week day? You need to tune these folks up Frank!

Who the hell put the weekday on national bourbon day, that's the best question. While we're at it .. who the hell made us work for five days and only let us rest for two. Also .. what's with the piping plovers, jeesh, we get two days to relax on the beach per week and they close it so that piping plovers can have sex on the beach. I think the plovers should work five days a week, have two off,  and then for four weeks a year their beach gets closed because we all have sex on the beach.

I feel like nesting... That's my point.

Now who can argue with that?   Not only is that authentic frontier jibberish, it expressed a courage little seen in this day and age.

Nobody can argue with that because I wrote it in such a way that any argument would be cyclical in nature. I'm not an expert but I think that means the argument would go around and around like the spinner on the board game Life, where even if you win you'd have a little plastic car, chock full of plastic people with tiny bulbous heads and no arms. Is that a win ... really?  People need arms because what kind of parades would we have with armless people around? Who's gonna do all the waving and whatnot?

Well I also hope you appreciated my nonsensical, blazing Saddles-quoting, reply.   It’s all in funning.  There needs to be more light heartedness in the world.

I love Blazing Saddles and got the reference. I'm all in on the funning, also any fuming. Honestly, I'm only doing the fuming to get money for all the funning. I'll be honest, I was chasing funning so much in the 2000's that I might have.put bugs inside a few places, to get the contracts for fuming, just to pay for all the funning. Again, it was cyclical. I got dizzy just trying to keep track of it all.

For those who don't imbibe in the brown water, today is also National Strawberry Shortcake Day.  You're welcome.   :)

  • While not our national day, I hope you don’t mind if we in the GWN adopt it as our own. F-I-L is coming over with the fam in a bit, and he’s big on boilermakers - a beer and a whiskey in tandem. All that I’ve got on hand that I’m prepared to open is Bulleit, so bourbon and IPA it is.

Any celebration works.  FIL and boilermakers, that's dang strong.

  • His was whiskey and beer side by side - not mixed, as I understand some are. Not a bad way to be greeted as a young man courting his daughter!

Cheap stale tapped beer salted down in a short 7 ounce beer glass served with rot gut is the traditional boiler maker.....

All that needs done for the day is done, so getting started.  Drinking alone, unless the forum counts as boozing partners...

4 roses in the glass, Evan Williams in the miso-bourbon smothered chicken.  Salad is baby arugula and sweet potatoes in chimichurri vinaigrette.
