Finally took the upgrade plunge

I'm a happy owner of a Large BGE for 15 years, but with the current supply chain crisis here in teh U.S., we've been getting meat through are local Meat Processing plant (ie. Purchased a whole cow) That meant larger cuts of meat often. It has meant that the Large is just not quite big enough with the family order of meat, so today  we went to our best Local BGE dealer and got an XL, Totally stoked for delivery next week.

I picked up the Eggspander, some various half moon plates The Steel FIre Basket. SO any Suggestions on something I may have missed?

    A Nest for it!!!!
  • I don't view a nest or sides as optional, unless I was putting it in a table, so I neglected to include mentioning them. I suppose I should talk about the Half moon plates. I got the Cast Iron plancha/griddle, and two of the half moon ceramic plates that gives me the equivalent of what I still call a platesetter, but also allows me two zone cooking when used individually.

Are teh half moon vegetable/seafood grids still around?

I decided against a half moon cast iron grid, simply because I'm not getting rid of my Large BGE, and I have a Cast Iron rgid for it already.

Cool you're going to keep the large after getting your XL
  • Man, I keep forgetting to use my XL!  Congrats on the score.  I have the setup you described with the half moons, etc.  It is great.   Two zone cooking is great on the XL.
