Javelin Duo Pro crapped out

I have a Javelin Duo Pro I bought in September 2021 and used it a handful of times. It worked flawlessly.  Then today I used it in a prime rib, worked great, took it inside and wiped down the probe and when I closed it, it wouldn’t turn off. Then gave me a LO battery, so I swapped it out for a new one.  Now the ice bath reads about 86F and my temp is 155F. Swapped the battery out again for a new one just in case it was a defective battery but reading the same.  Don’t know what happened but it seemed to crap out on me.  Sent a message to LavaTools as I am within my 3 year warranty for defects.  It’s never been dropped and only the probe has been wiped clean, so no immersion in water.

Anyone else have this issue.

BTW, the prime rib was off the chain.  Used some chunks of cherry wood this time.

  • Glad the PR Turned out!

I love my javelin pro duo. It is the best thermo I have ever had by a long  shot. Hope they treat you well on the warranty. Mine is like 5 years old and we use it every day. It smokes all the Thermapen products we have had (and we have had them all).

I’m sure the will take care of you.
Never had issues with any of their products myself.
    Thank you,

  • Just an FYI, customer service was able to replace the pen with a just a few pics of what it looked like when putting it in an ice bath.

Way to close the protracted duration loop.  Glad they stand behind their products as I have both the javelin pro duo and thermapen thermoworks.  The pen is going on 12 yo and other than a battery replacement works fine.  Pro duo about 4 yo and no issues to date.
I'm a big fan of a backup system being in place.  B)
