Picanha at Costco

This is the first time I've seen this at our local Costco. A 2 pack of top sirloin whole cap with the fat cap. They're packaged fat to fat, so you can't tell the fat thickness, but I only had about a pound of trimmings to get it down to 1/4 inch of fat.

All they had were USDA Choice, but the price was $6.99/lb., as opposed to the choice top sirloin steaks at $9.99/lb. I cooked one last night and it was very tender, I'll be buying some more. Sorry no pics this time, but will do next time.

Costco has gotten on the bandwagon for this cut and even had a sign that said "Picanha"

Excellent find!  Will keep my eye out at local Costco.

    - Absolutely my favorite cut. Great find and will have to look here locally.
    - When I snowbirded in Miami at the end of the season I packed the fridge/freezer and our pass thru bay freezer full of picanha. Not uncommon to roll north on I-95 with 100# plus of picanha and over 50# of flap meat.
    - Have yet to find it here but will make a run today to Costco.
-Another hard to find item to find item in Tidewater Va is Tri-tip. Once in a while Langly AFB commissary has it. Have never seen it at Nas Oceana, LCrk, NOB or Scotts Center.
    - Thanks for the heads up.

Our local Costco was bogged down with them too. I was shocked. If I hadn’t just gotten a pair of wagyu ones from that SRF sale, I woulda been all over it
