A group of us Egghead's met up in the Chippewa National Forest this past week for a little get together.

I almost got banned from the group and not accepted for bringing my stick burner instead of a Kamado. (Not really) It was the perfect opportunity to use the stick burner given the time and place. Plus it made packing up and loading easy at 6:30am Sunday morning for the 4 hour trip home.
I picked up a cheap 4x6 canopy for the smoker to keep it dry as rain was expected in the forecast. I wasn't expecting the canopy to make it through the weekend but I was pleasantly surprised it did! I even had a chance to try out some Cheerwine that I picked up.

The KBQ part way through a cook. The top rack was wild turkey, the second rack was elk, and the bottom was some chicken for chicken salads.

I forgot to take a picture of the wild turkey but did get a picture of the chicken and elk when coming off.

I love every single part of this!
Man I don't know if it's the angle or what but it looks like you must have had a fairly long extension cord running out to that KBQ."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

My plan was to run it off a spare car battery and power inverter. (What I use at competitions in the past) I couldn't find my smaller power inverter so I grabbed my bigger one. The smoker ran for 15-20 minutes but would cut out using the inverter and battery. The battery was good and was trickled charged the night before. There was a guy at the get together who works with power grids and explained to me how the smaller inverter is more powerful than the bigger one I brought. Which is weird but he obviously knows what he's talking about.
I was at least smart enough to bring a long extension cord if something went wrong. I couldn't find any power outlets outside. So it became a little redneck....

@WeberWho I think I tested running my KBQ with a Jackery 300W generator/battery whatever they're called. And, I think it worked well, but honestly can't remember what happened. Guess I'll have to try it again.

Thanks. My buddy made that cutting board a few years back and has come in really handy. Not the easiest to store but nice for serving bigger cuts of protein."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

How was the wild turkey?
The wild turkey was really good. I think they soaked it in buttermilk prior. I didn't have big expectations as it was my first time but I found it to be really tasteful."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

I'm wondering what size my smaller inverter is? I just assumed with my slightly bigger inverter would be better and wouldn't have any issues running the KBQ. Not so much.
My small inverter runs 5-6 hours with the KBQ without a hitch. It works slick when I can find it."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

Wild turkey is really good when it's cooked correctly. I've mostly had it fried (chicken strips style, not whole) and that's really good too.
