Looking for last minute vacation spot suggestions, most likely early/mid May. Myself, wife, and 3.5 year old. No thanks on the Disney stuff just yet.
Considering NC/SC/FL (no Orlando), and AZ, but open to other suggestions as well. Looking for warmth as we're from MN. Good food in a walkable area would be a plus. Where should we check out?

If AZ is OK, you could check out Lowes Hotel in Tucson, AZ. It's a unique hotel built right in the desert with short walk ways, desert nature trails, swimming pools. This time of year it could get up in the 90s, but it's dry heat. I been there twice and loved it both times.

If you plan a trip to Ottawa, you can stay anywhere in the downtown core rent-free for at least three weeks.

Charleston and the surrounding area is great. If you're wanting walkable I'd say downtown or one of the beaches. May is still a little too cold to sit out on the beach I think, but we probably have different feelers on that.

historic, beautiful, water/beaches, amazing food. This is probably your best option. While it may be warmer than MN in early May, Asheville, NC probably won't be the warm destination you're looking for, although it would probably check all the other boxes. What type of activities do you guys usually enjoy? Moab, UT had pretty good food when we were there a couple of years ago and you could get out in the red rocks, although it may be a bit tougher to get to.LBGE

Fort Myers beach. Stay near times square to walk to food.
We prefer to stay on the quieter south end. They have a trolley that runs up and down the strip for really cheap.... like a buck a day.
Budget airlines fly in there too.Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

Hope you can book a place this late in the year. We booked our vacation just over a month ago and lodging was limited. We are going to try out Hilton Head.

Ugh, no. You have to get off the island to find decent food. I like the south side too, but the food is overall bad.

As said above the SC low country is great in May. We also like Amelia Island. We used to go down every year and make the drive to Sawgrass a few days when the Player’s was in May. We still do 4-5 days in May every year at either the Omni or the Ritz. There are also plenty of condo and townhouse rentals available in the community around the Omni.

AZ, cause you have a small kid and there is tons to do there. No worries about weather either. You will need to drive lots though as everything is spread out.

Savannah or a little further south to the Golden Isles. Early May is cool for me at the beach but kids always seem to love the beach and our ice fishing is over since the last ice age. Decent food either place.
The Blue Ridge will be in early spring with a lot of green, but I've seen 30s and rain as well as beautiful days until end of May.

Come to St. Croix. The US Virgin Islands are really nice during that time. The Buccaneer Hotel is a nice property.
