As a lover of baseball, it pains me to see MLB headed down the well trodden Owner vs. Player arguments that tarnish the sport.

Between the pandemic and the spector of WWIII, I think they are over estimating their importance.

Heard it this morning on the news.  Incredibly disappointed in MLB.  This is about as tone-deaf as it gets.

It’s a sad day when the greedy players are trying to take from the poor owners. How are the owners supposed to make money? They are pretty much operating charities at this point. Jeter only got $45 mil on his $25 mil investment for 4% stake in the Marlins yesterday.

Ten years ago this would have been devastating -- or at least very disappointing -- to me, but the sport has become utterly unwatchable the past several years. I recall a stat where 40 percent of at bats don't result with a ball put into play. There's too many strikeouts, walks, and yes, home runs nowadays. Way too many pitchers used and the games take too long. I could easily tolerate three-plus hour games if not for the pace/lack of interesting plays. Defense and base running are almost irrelevant in today's game. It's sad what MLB baseball has turned into -- and has nothing to do with how much the players and owners are making.

I wish I got see more of the small ball and brawl era.  Watching clips from the 70s and 80s is pretty amazing.

I would love to see the time when the biggest baddest person on the field was a pitcher who would regularly throw over 100 pitches a game.

    This is crazy!

"Ryan finished with a no-decision and didn’t even log the most innings by any pitcher in Anaheim that day: His opponent, Luis Tiant, went 14 1/3 innings before surrendering Denny Doyle’s walk-off double in the bottom of the 15th."

Whenever I hear about the good ole days of baseball and how the game sucks these days I remember this tv ad that Barbasol ran a few years ago which cracks me up:
"...I'm in the middle of pitching 17 innings. And that's after a breakfast of chipped beef and scotch..."

Lol! Never seen that before.  Breakfast of Champions.

As a kid in St Louis I loved Baseball, my Grandparents always took me to games

In my Teens in Houston, nothing more fun that Astrodome games with my Dad.

I also then realized that this is a boring game and quit watching it unless the Astros or Cardinals are in the world series.  Then I really just check the scores.  All major sports though have the same issues.. too much money and every person involved wants more of it.

I have found it increasingly difficult to watch the games. Going to the park and watching used to be my favorite sporting event to attend, until I went to a VGK hockey game. Now I really only watch baseball if the Astros are playing in the playoffs.

I’ll admit that I haven’t taken in a game away from Vegas (Bruins are in town tonight, BTW), but the in game production here is amazing. Keeps Mrs. BattleBorn entertained and excited to go to the games.

I still enjoy going to a New (to me) park and enjoying the experience of the park.  I usually am ready to leave after 4 or 5 innings though.

My son plays little league baseball and it's 1000x more exciting than any MLB game as of late. And my son ran to 3rd after his first time at bat.
