Bulk charcoal in canada

Hey everyone, I was wondering has anyone ever bought a pallet of charcoal in Canada? Me and a few friends would like to split on a pallet and would want to pay under a $1 a pound. Thanks for any info.
I sent a message to wicked good charcoal company and I’ll see what they say. The problem is is that they want $36 per 20lbs bag so if I buy a pallet it’ll most likely still be more than $1 a pound.

Maple Leaf is top quality and available in most hardware stores. Basque is available at Costco for much less than 1$ a pound.____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli

Lowes in your area has Maple Leaf at around 1.25$ per pound. They sometimes have a BOGO deal around spring that brings down prices quite a bit. They didn’t have the BOGO deal last year but they had a 25% off deal at one point while stock was pretty low so it was hard to get. If you want to buy a pallet, talk to an hardware store manager, who knows, maybe they can give you some kind of discount.

Ya I want to talk to someone about getting a pallet of Royal oak and see what they say

Royal Oak is hit and miss, Maple Leaf is one of the beat charcoal available and we are lucky enough to get it pretty much in any hardware store.____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli

Never tried it but seen it around. I’ll have to give it a shot. I tried master craft from Canadian tire and it smokes like crazy.

Pro-tip: If you order a pallet and plan to share it with friends, take the bags off the top for yourself.Clinton, Iowa

U think that the bottom bags are all banged up?
-
Yes. More weight on top of them, while riding in the "freedom convoy" causes more breakage.
@stlcharcoal has told us about this phenomenon many times. Pray that your pallet isn't a bottom pallet.

+1 for Maple Leaf. Home Hardware and Canadan Tire both sell it in our town but never at the same time. A little pricey @ $23.99/bag but never disappointed with the results!

I’ve seen maple leaf just didn’t know if the extra $8 was worth it over master chef or Royal oak.

It's more just the vibration. Every bump in the road breaks it down a little bit. These pallets settle probably a 6-8" just in the first 100 miles as the charcoal "nests" in the bags. -
+1 For maple leaf too. I burn a bag a week. Very consistent. Roal oak was my go to but it's really dropping quality. I retry all the other brands every summer but always go back to maple leaf. The low cost is just a bonus. It's also probably the BGE Canadian maple charcoal supplier. Same size bag.

I’ve been reading reviews of maple leaf and they have a lot of bad reviews, I guess small pieces and the quality has been going down. I’ll try a bag for myself and see what happens. Few people went from Royal oak to maples leaf just to go right back.I’ve been using master chef since it’s the cheapest coal I can find so far.

i used to buy maple leaf from wicked good by the pallet when i first bought the egg, then it became nonexistent in the US. my bet with the bad reviews are people confusing basque maple with the actual true maple leaf (best smelling lump out there)

thats the one i used to buy. the basque sugar maple is in a red and white bag, one of the bad reviews there shows a red and white bag. the basque is ok once its burning well but it doesnt smell that good at all when starting it. interesting that all the reviews on that site are a few years old. try a bag before looking for a pallet, some like the charcoal smell while others want a lump so clean that you have to add smoking wood

Regular Costco in GTA (likely rest of ON and QC too) have 8kg Basques $17.99. Only Costco Business Centres carry them during winter months.

I found cowboy at Costco for $17.99 never seen lump charcoal cheaper than that. I’ve seen that cowboy runs for $24.99 at lowes so I’m happy.
now it’s time to find lump under $17.99, that’s my new game.
so far I got Royal oak for $19.99
mastercraft $18.99
cowboy for $17.99 -
There's a reason why Cowboy is the cheapest...."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

It’s only the cheapest at Costco otherwise it’s $24.99
