I have never been much of a TV watcher - but it used to be that I always WATCHED 60 Minutes, but no longer bother...and then my favorite OF ALL FAVORITES was This Old House . I followed that show for years! Clear back to the Bob Villa days and thru Norm A's days and l probably could name most of the cast over the years! Lately I even own a Silva Bros construction company t-shirt!

BUT when they jumped the shark and went with all those "fixer-uppers" bought for a mere $500K requiring "just another $3 to 5 Million"  I lost interest. Now, I never bother to even see what the show is about.

Anybody want to add to my list?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just doesn't do it for me anymore.  . .

Seriously though... there are so many shows you can binge.  I can rewatch shows I forgot I watched.

Lifestyles of the rich and famous with Robin Leach?

TGIF was always a good lineup in my childhood.

I like to watch baseball but rarely can devote the time.

Series are like Brisket to me.  I can't stop until there is nothing left.

I haven't ever given up on a show that I watch more than an episode or two of.

But, I cut the Cable / Network TV cord years ago.  So, most of what I watch is on premium / streaming / demand instead of shows that are out once per week on the four major networks.

I am not throwing stones, but I honestly didn't know 60 minutes or This Old House was "on the air" after 2004.  That is probably when I stopped watching network TV.  I still like my local news, but I stream that, too.

Some of my recent favorites are Ozark, Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, Ray Donovan, Yellowstone, Ted Lasso, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Succession, and Justified.  If they come out with more episodes of any of those, I am watching, regardless.

I just started "Emily In Paris" because Payton Manning.

I've watched 60 Minutes, religiously, since I was a teenager, to this day.
I quit watching regular TV when Carol Burnett went off the air, although for two year in Grand Forks ND I watched Frasier/Friends episodes because they came on after the news, and it was too cold to do anything else.
To this day, no other TV other than news and PBS docs (the intranetz provides some diversions, but I still prefer books).

@RRP - I agree with you on Bob Villa and This Old House. I had been watching some of his shows on Roku streaming box service LiveTV.  The shows were listed as This Old House Classic but were only showed during evenings

  • I started slowing up on series tv shows in the late 90’s . Between working long hours and other activities after work there just wasn’t much time for it. Then the quality went down and the number of choices exploded. Watching a bit of one of the Star Trek series that I missed out on right now. Deep Space 9 I think,

Getting a little off topic here but streaming services ruined regular network TV for me. 30 minutes of content takes an hour with commercials ( why am I paying for this again? ), then you have to wait a week and plan according to a schedule to watch the next episode, and by that time you have forgotten most of it. PVR helps, but its still not the same. To be honest I can't see non on-demand type TV being around much longer as internet services get better and reach out farther.

Its too bad there are so many streaming services already though, everyone has their exclusives and multiple subscriptions add up if you want to see everything.

Also I can't stand the shows where they show you whats coming up after the break, and then after the break they re-cap what was on before. Discovery channel is the worst for this

I think Tom (Legume) was kind of joking here, but Ron if you're up for it I think a lot of us would kind of get a kick out of seeing a picture of that membership card.   It's kind of neat.  Definitely a part of history in some ways.

Used to watch many sitcoms/dramas when I was younger but can't any longer. I have seen all the plots, funnies and when I watch a new show today, I can tell you how each episode will play out, how it will end. Younger folks haven't seen these plot lines yet and they are the target audience.........not me.

To bring this thread slightly back on topic, I used to watch all the cooking shows, from Julia Child and Jacques Pepin, to the Frugal Gourmet and the Galloping Gourmet, ATK and Cooks Country until Kimball left, and a few others. They actually tried to show how to do things. Then all the shows became ridiculous contests. I don't even list the Food Network or the Cooking Channel as favorites anymore.
