How does your county grow (or shrink)?

The obvious takeaway is that many rural areas are shrinking as more and more people move to the cities.  But then there are also some areas that are growing which are a bit of a surprise.  Anyway, I thought the five of you who seem to pay attention to this hidden corner of the forum might appreciate this.

Around here everyone's blaming the California exodus, but when the locals are pooping out 12-14 kids per couple, ridiculous growth is inevitable.  
And natural gas/fracking is what changed western North Dakota; that place exploded.

Probably fairly accurate for my state.
