What are the top causes of lack of vision (not the eye-sight kind)?

In this day and age I see two main drivers; too self-centered to think about the knock-on impact of any actions etc, and the one that is elementary, too stupid to know/care.  Can there be a connection?  My take is yes, but the stupid is a foundational trait, the selfishness a victim of where society is today.
Any others care to comment?

Beau of the Fifth Column (Ewetube channel) mentioned a third, just in the last day or two: Age.  As most folk get older they become less accepting to new ideas (Vision) and more of a desire for the "good ol' days"/SOP.

Not sure there's a direct correlation between selfishness and stupidity.  Bill Gates certainly has vision but is not selfish, and Warren Buffet at least admits he should be paying a higher percentage of his income/wealth in taxes than his secretary (which he is not), but the vast majority of the top 0.1% wealthy (Musk, Bezos, the Waltons, Murdock, trump*, Tillerson et al) seem to be notoriously selfish, and I wouldn't say anyone of the above-mentioned (save one) are stupid.  Would be cool to see a breakout of the charity/wealth ratio for the top 1%, but that's probably not possible.

But that's just an opinion on the top income earners; as far as the rest of us, I really have no idea.  Interesting topic, Cap'n.

@Botch - the live action will only happen if you are opening the Speakeasy!  But you do have the keys!

Selfishness may or may not be more prevalent in society today.  I like to think it is not.
Willful ignorance, that is being proud of and promoting your ignorance, certainly seems to have a strong momentum right now.  That is troubling as it continues to gain further acceptance.
An article I read earlier today gives some insights.  It's a dismal read...

  • CNN & MSMBC at the bottom of the list.  Imagine that. Both are fake news, and have nothing to talk about after The “Trump” days.  Really can’t feel sorry for these two “loser” networks….they caused their own demise. Worthless air time that no one tunes to!

  • Tucker is “the man”!  Tells it like it should be told…no holes barred.  Most people that avoid him tend to hide their heads in the sand. No holes barred reporting, which is 100% opposed to the left wing radical Marxist Theory of the left of our current administration. FJB!

As long as he doesn't bare any holes. I suspect you wouldn't know what 'left wing radical marxist theory' was if it bit you on the a$$. Since you probably don't know what right wing conservative capitalist theory is either, I suppose it doesn't matter. Book Learnin' seems to have never been an interest of yours.

“no holes barred” … good Lord.  The fact that you’re a big Tucker fanboy is one of the least surprising things I’ve read on this forum.
