So ya weird topic, but with two kids we use our toaster every day. I'm sick of buying cheap new ones every couple years. Yes we end up going through a toaster every two years or less. What are your recommendations for a quality toaster. I'd be willing to spend up to a couple hundo if it will last a decade or so. Requirements are that it is a 4 slice toaster and if possible stainless steel since it will be sitting on the counter daily. Also I need something reliable with daily use not something that's gonna trash out after 6months.

Do you have the room for a toaster oven? I'd do that again in a heartbeat above just a toaster. It may take another minute or so to make toast. I believe mine takes 3 minutes after hitting start to make a rather blonde but crispy toast.

SWMBO disposed of our toaster oven a few months ago and I seriously miss having toast as a good option. I’m also interested in any recommendations.Plainfield, IL

Have definite opinions on this topic.
Went with the highest rated Wirecutter toaster oven at the time (a Breville?) but the instrument panel stopped working after just a year.
Gave this a try and freakin’ love it. The form factor makes it cook big trays of veggies evenly or air fry cauliflower perfectly. It’s my favorite way to do chicken parts outside of the egg. With the special running it’s a great deal. I didn’t think I’d use some of the features (ex: flip up) but I use that one all the time to create counter space while also using the Cuisinart.

If it’s in the budget- Take a look at Waring 850. If not, try to find something by Waring within your budget. You will be hard pressed to find a better toaster.Snellville, GA

My wife has some sort of personal vendetta against toasters that I have yet to figure out over the last 15 years. With that said, I have been relegated to using the oven if I want anything toasted.Las Vegas, NV

You can fit a 1/4 sheet pan in it, and it’s handy for baking/roasting when you don’t want to fire up the big oven.Costco is selling a Calphalon Breville-clone, which is also pretty good.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Breville BOV845BSS Smart Oven is what I have. It does toast and gets more use than the regular oven. It's nice for the kid's stuff. Gets up to temp quickly and no sacrifice in quality or unevenness. I will say that I doubt it'll last a decade. I use it for a lot though.
It does look like maybe there's a new model on Amazon or something. -
@TEXASBGE2018, does your family all eat at once, or file thru at different times at breakfast? If the latter, a two-slice model would be good but I have no suggestions/knowledge.
If the former, I would also recommend a Breville toaster oven. It seems to toast anywhere from one to 8 slices total (which I tried just because I was curious) perfectly, very even on all slices. I've had mine over a year, so no idea about its life, but I'm happy.___________"If you have nothing to say, why do you keep talking?" - Alton Brown's wife

I love my Toaster. It allows you to pick the the toast level from 1-4. It makes me feel good, but it is about as effective as a close the door button on an elevator. Regardless of level it is like a slot machine. Raw to burnt. Makes mornings exciting. It also hums just below audible recognition, so you have to make sure you unplug it, or the agitation level in the.kitchen goes sky high unless you remember to unplug it. I can hear it, but nobody else can, they just get unbelievably agitated for no apparent reason. If you want to scoop one up, here is a picture.

Breville toaster oven. Or one that’s a toaster oven and air fryer. Ditch the traditional pop tart slice style

We’ve had this for a couple of years and it still
works like the day we got it out of the box. Don’t do nearly your volume but we have no complaints.

This is not a 4-slice model, so not relevant for what @TEXASBGE2018 is searching for. It's on my radar since reading the linked article, adding as some might find it as interesting as I did..."Why a toaster from 1949 is still smarter than any sold today"*edit to add patent info: https://patents.google.com/patent/US2459170A/en

I've got two. The two-slice Breville has been bombproof reliable for years but has short slots. Since I bake a lot of bread that doesn't fit it, I also have a newer Dash (love the color!) with a single longer slot. It is easier to clean and has a handy window. It also has a quirk: often it'll throw the toast out of the toaster. Kids love it.
