Outdoor lamp

Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you have an outdoor lamp that you use while bbqing at night? I would like to mount one in the middle of my two bbqs. Any suggestions?

I have the less industrial version.  Mine is only appropriate for winter-nighttime bbqing.

I'm pretty sure I'm that "older member" as I first started that 20 years ago. BUT what I found worked better was to reverse the internal webbing (a very easy task) so that I could mount the light on the back instead of the front. Reason was that front bill was always in the way making me need to tilt my head forward.

I mounted two "L" brackets to existing screws.  Magnetic led heads are outstanding.  Two lights in the kit.  $20  lights up well.  Video example

EDIT:  and I had done a quick check at amazoid, saw a bunch of those two-lamp sets, but with the magnetic base I didn't think they'd work well with two eggs.  I stand corrected.

We’ve got at least a half dozen of these kicking around.  They go camping, they’re used when we lose power, I grab them when I’m grilling.

I did a write up on this about a year and a half maybe two years ago.  Tried several types of lights and mounts.  Ended up these worked the best for me.

Same thing for me. My egg is under a patio so no issue with lighting but, if I'm wanting to check on a overnight cook I will sometimes wear one of those just so I don't disturb anyone.

I actually don’t need it when I egg, there is a motion sensor light that overlooks the grill deck.  I do need it when I’m using the gasser because when I’m standing there I block the light from reaching whatever is on the grill.

Thanks everyone for the responses, I’ll look into all the links you guys sent and choose one…. I seen one option where you can mount a flashlight somewhere and just use that. So we’ll see. Something needs to happen.

If your mounting options allow and relying on solar to recharge is not an issue, you could consider these: https://www.solarlight-mart.com/mini_50x_spotlight  Note the wiring sequence, the two lights are daisy chained from the panel.  Looks like they also have a newer "3rd Generation" model now: https://www.solarlight-mart.com/mini_50x_30_spotlight
In my setup one light is dedicated to illuminating a landscape fountain.  The 2nd one is mounted on the pergola and located directly above my Egg, it normally shines on a portion of the yard.  When cooking after dark it's a simple matter to reach up and rotate the light to shine on the Egg.
The set I have came with a single 18650 2000 mAH battery, which would not last thru the night on the "medium" setting.  Battery needed replaced after about 4 years and the housing accepts a 18650 dual cell.  No issues getting thru the night using that.

  • The day you posted this thread, I was working on "building" a light for my table. See the pics.

I had this old BBQ Dragon that stopped working. I took the head off the unit which exposed about a 1/2" of thread.

I have a Zeust light that I been using for years; this is actually my second one. The first one almost melted on me when I was spinning the spit with the dome open while cooking some picanha. The newer version is heat resistant. The light works great, but the mechanism that holds it in place is very fragile and eventually will break. See what I highlighted in yellow.

I removed the bracket where I highlighted in red; all that was needed was to pop the cover off and remove a very small screw. I then drilled out the plastic, starting with a small bit, until it was able to screw onto the old BBQ Dragon stem. I had a small piece of sample granite laying around that I clamped to it. It's absolutely perfect now.

Where are the two L brackets you mention, on the bottom half? What's the purpose of those two wooden(?) bars sticking out?

Got it! Actually for years I put in 8 to 10:hours per day 6 days a week. I learned the use of my forementioned light mounted on my old hard hat! Even during the Summer day light hours that light could point to a “cockytail” in the dark! "
