@Foghorn no mention of picking up some gloves before the visit....
Memphis, TN -
I left out a lot in an unsuccessful attempt at brevity. Like the part about how the patient lived just out of town on a 1000+ acre ranch. Or how his name is on a plaque at Kreuz as he was a founding member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Or how, when he learned that I grew up in Florida, he told me that he used to own a lot of land in Florida... now they call it Panama City Beach. Or how I really knew his wife better than I knew him because when I got to know them, he was on a ventilator in the ICU with rib fractures and pneumonia and I had to give his wife and daughter the "I don't think he's going to make it through the night" speech.HighHeat said:@Foghorn no mention of picking up some gloves before the visit....
Although, probably the most remarkable thing about him is that when he got discharged from the hospital after 6 weeks, he went by the hospital business office on the way to his car - with his checkbook - so he could write a check for the cost of the hospital stay.
Sorry for the thread hijack - but the mention of Lockhart brought back some fond memories.XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

No hi-jack evidenced here by me as I just responded to the original request. Fascinating stories @Foghorn. Better to be lucky comes to mind. Clean livin' and shear desire also works.

Don't do that anymore. Stories like that need to be told, and if you're afraid of "hijacks" just start another thread.Foghorn said:

@Foghorn 's story, both the not so short short version and the added detail one are awesome stories. Thank you for sharing.
All that jackholes giving you a hard time, do not have a sentimental bone in their body.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Thanks for all the kind comments. To be clear, nobody gave me a hard time. I was just being polite. That’s just how my momma raised me.In reality, about the only times I’ve ever seen someone get a hard time for writing anything on anyone’s thread is when politics or religion are brought up on one of the “What are you…” threads that are meant to live in perpetuity.

An important bit of info I failed to include in the above assessments: For those who enjoy beer with brisket, here's the latest:
Beer available at Franklin, Interstellar (free commencing at 10:30 AM-bonus!!), LeRoy&Lewis (at a venue in the same food truck complex) and Micklethwait on this trip.
On the prior run in June '19 Snow's, Louie Mueller (but not in '21; did not renew their license) and Truth.

I stand by my previous assessment. Your writing is dense. Like an after action report.lousubcap said:An important bit of info I failed to include in the above assessments: For those who enjoy beer with brisket, here's the latest:

Just trying to hit the high points and not waste key strokes. Regarding after action reports, I have written a few.
Always remember ( and not directly related), "He who makes the first good shot lives to write the patrol report."

It is not a complaint. I enjoy your posts, I usually have to read them slowly and a few times.lousubcap said:Just trying to hit the high points and not waste key strokes. Regarding after action reports, I have written a few.

No worries- I have to write them slowly and usually hose up something that requires editing. Thus the heavy use of (Edit) when necessary.
