The people were granted anonymity to discuss the package ahead of the announcement and acknowledged that the contents could still change before the official announcement is made."

Yep, 80 tons of bombs amounted to a “bigger hammer “.
-
A single bomb is more efficient (and yeah, that's me)
The MOAB was nicknamed the "Mother Of All Bombs" during the Iraqi War, but its actual acronym is "Mass Ordnance Air Burst"; it was designed to create a single shock-wave over a large mountainous area with multiple cave entrances, wherein ISIS/Taliban were hunkering down. The shock wave entered all entrances, and met in the middle; apparently they were very effective.
Not sure if its the ideal weapon for a single underground bunker, though...___________"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."

If I'm not mistaken before the Iraq war the US converted some 8 inch cannon barrels into a special deep penetrating bomb. I think that it required an actual bomber to drop it though rather than the F15, F16, or F35's that they have available.

From the BBC-
"Israel Defense Forces (IDF) say approximately 180 missiles were fired from Iran towards Israel. No injuries have been reported so far by the country's authorities, who told Israelis to shelter in place as many missiles were being intercepted in mid-air (more on how Israel's air defences work). Israeli Air Force will "continue to strike powerfully in the Middle East" on Tuesday night, a IDF spokesman said.
Israel will now be tempted to retaliate against Iran with far greater force than it did back in April. At that time, following a volley of around 300 Iranian missiles and drones, launched in response to an Israeli strike on Iran’s consulate in Damascus, there was a concerted international diplomatic effort to restrain Israel from reacting too forcefully. In the end, Israel carried out a minor but symbolic missile attack on a target close to Iran’s nuclear facilities. It caused little damage but showed Iran it had the reach.
This time may well be different. Israel sees its recent actions around the region as both a deterrent to its enemies and the elimination of the threats it has been facing. Just as Iran felt it had to respond to the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July and of the Hezbollah leader in September, Israel is unlikely to take this direct attack from Iran lying down. Its targets could range from Iran’s nuclear facilities to IRGC bases to the launch sites and storage depots from where Tuesday’s missile attack were fired from."

More on the escalation in the Middle East-
Israel, US fend off massive Iranian attack
White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters on Tuesday that the attack "appears to have been defeated and ineffective."
"We do not know of any deaths in Israel," he said. "We do not know of any damage to aircraft or strategic military assets in Israel."
Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said at a briefing after the attack that Israel "was able to intercept the majority of the incoming missiles and that there was minimal damage on the ground."
Ryder added that two U.S. Navy destroyers helped shoot down the missiles, and fired around a dozen interceptors.
- The attack marked a significant escalation in the conflict between Israel and Iran, Ryder and Sullivan said.
- Tehran previously attacked Israel in April in an attack defeated by the U.S. and Israel, along with allied forces in the region.
Israeli military spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said there were a "small number" of hits in central and southern Israel, but the "majority of the incoming missiles were intercepted."
"Iran's attack is a severe and dangerous escalation. There will be consequences," he said in a video address. "We will respond wherever, whenever, and however we choose."

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters that U.S. naval destroyers had joined Israel in shooting down missiles after “meticulous joint planning in anticipation of the attack.” Patrick Kingsley, Aaron Boxerman, Farnaz Fassihi, and Isabel Kershner report for the New York Times.

Israel is sending “additional forces” to its ground operation in Lebanon and has told more villages to evacuate. Regular infantry and armored units are joining the operation, the military said, stepping up pressure on Hezbollah. The group claimed it repelled an Israeli ground attack in Lebanon today, and has continued firing rockets at Israel. BBC News reports; Steven Scheer, Parisa Hafezi, and Timour Azhari report for Reuters.
Israel’s recent airstrikes in Lebanon destroyed about half of Hezbollah’s arsenal it had accumulated over more than three decades, according to senior Israeli and U.S. officials. Edward Wong, Julian E. Barnes, and Eric Schmitt reports for the New York Times.
