I have 16 hard wired speakers in my house allof which are run to a central point in my basement. The previous owner left a receiver but seems to have taken other components (likely part of some Control 4 platform. My goal would be to use some type method to play music in the house and likely have the ability to control the sound in different zones. Any suggestions?

I would start with your local control4 dealer and see if they intalled the original system.Large and Small BGECentral, IL

Provided you have 4-8 ohm speakers.....If you have the high voltage (70 volt) speakers, you need a special amp.______________________________________________I love lamp..

Did they leave the rest of the C4 stuff?Large and Small BGECentral, IL

I set my system up in 2004 so take this for what it is worth...
I have 3 zones and use a device like Nola linked above - only smaller. You need a very robust amp to run more than 2 zones. The low resistance of running 3 zones was more than a pretty good Yamaha receiver could handle - so I had to upgrade to a Harman Kardon. That has worked well for all these years. I still have the 5 disc CD player hooked to it but at this point I usually hook our Amazon Echo up to it with an audio cable and just say "Alexa, play..."XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

Echo's have audio Outs now? What model do you have (I have two originals, and they are just speakers)?Foghorn said:...at this point I usually hook our Amazon Echo up to it with an audio cable and just say "Alexa, play..."

Well, do I feel dumb!nolaegghead said:
I got a Dot about a year ago as part of some promotional thing; already had two 1st-Gen Echoes, with no Audio Out, so I figured the Dot wouldn't have one, never even unboxed it.
Will dig around for a 1/8"-RCA stereo cable, or venture out to buy one after Black Friday.
