Anyone have a contact at the mothership? Trying to get this covered under warranty. It’s not going well...in all honesty, sad to see this XL go, but the tree could’ve just as easily fallen on the house, shed or my truck. I don’t need to live in or drive the egg to work so I’ll take the W and move on to the next one. The good news is, I have an XL from the house we just moved out of and it’s been itching to get back in the lineup. Need to put an RRP gasket on it and it’s ready to cook.

That's not a very fun way to start/end a day. Sorry about that. I've experienced similar results. Glad to hear everyone is okay.

Been there without any luck.  I called my local dealer and they sold me a demo base for my particular need.  Lot less $

    That’s not covered under warranty.

Homeowner’s policy would cover it maybe. But what’s the deductible?

I've wondered how that disclaimer is handled if the policy holder is a non-believer.
At any rate, looks more like work of the devil.

We're still waiting for the "Devastated" reaction button to show up.  I can't click like, agree, or disagree on this post.  Was the grid at least salvageable?  Sorry this happened.  I do appreciate your positive outlook.  Family safe! House ok and car and shed ok.  That IS a win.

Man, that looks like a direct hit.
    Sorry to see that.

  • Talk to your local dealer. I have had similar circumstances arrive and BGE has gone above and beyond to take care of the customer. I have submitted some warranties who I thought had no shot of being of being accepted. But they have come thru more times than not on questionable warranties. Just explain the circumstances to your dealer

Thanks everyone. It was a kick in the stones for sure. We’re not going to go the insurance route. Just not worth it. I cut up the trees and a buddy chipped and hauled them for nothing but some fuel. I salvaged the dome thermo and the firebox of all things. Everything else was trashed.

Obviously, I kid about the warranty, but my local dealer was awesome. I was in the hardware store getting some other stuff and saw the owner. Told him about my egg. He offered me a demo XL and nest off the floor for $1200. If I didn’t have the backup XL, I’d have jumped all over it.

You can take comfort in the thought you did not run it over with your truck.

Don't tell your problems to people.  80% of people don't care and 20% are glad you have them.
