So my wife has been on my case.  You build an outdoor cook area why are you keeping the large BGE wheel nest.  Your hording.

I laughed.  I have a small round patio table that sits on the nest as my accessories holder when I'm grilling.

My turkey fryer pans fit it perfectly when I do turkeys and seafood boils.  Perfect height to work from.

I made friends with Mrs Mary, meat department local Kroger store.  Retired elderly lady that is so thoughtful.  I asked about what happens to seafood and meat in the display that doesn't sell.  She mentioned way to often it gets pitched.  So now she calls me and I get as much as I want cheap end of day etc.

So.  My BGE nest in use if it helps anyone.

Dude.  That's awesome.  And low cost.  Can't beat that.

  • Beautiful setting. Beautiful cook.

Gotta ask though…. “So now she calls me and I get as much as I want cheap end of day etc.”….. Is this sale Kroger-sanctioned? Sounds kinda like she’s lining her pockets selling contraband meat. Sounds like.

Not what I ment.  It's sanctioned.  When it's approaching closing the meat counter time at the end of the day. Steaks other Meat etc gets wrapped discounted and put out in the mark down section.  Thawed seafood gets pitched.  So discounted and not a total loss is how they view it.  I've done it at several stores over the years.  Basically you would have to cook it that day or next can't be re frozen. I have large seafood cooks cheaply.  They still sell the seafood what ever is left many times nothing.  Just heavily reduced.

Sounds like a good way to score dinner.

Better to be lucky than good.  Great work on the relationship with Kroger right there.  Sweet looking boil as well.
However, am I too old and slow or did I not see any BGE in the above pics?

Used the BGE nest wheels and a turkey fryer that sits perfectly on it.   So almost BGE related

Local market to us puts an extra sticker on meat items, usually big discounts.

My wife and I call these purchases "used meat"....in deference to an old friend, now deceased, that we'd visit and each visit would land us in the "Used Food Market", a warehouse of scratch and dented cans, bakery items nearing their last days, other closeout items. Always a good time.
