Watched a most incredible story on CBS this morning; go to CBSNews.com and look for "CEO on giving employees minimum $70k paychecks" (I wasn't able to directly link to it).

And please note, who his naysayers were; pretty eye-opening...

Did not watch the video, but based on your recommendation I read a number of articles.  Pretty interesting.  Curious if profit rose same as net sales.  Articles are cagey on that detail.

After the death of my husband and son ,I became the Head of his investment and just recently, the doctors handling my health issues at Cancer center: Christie Hospital NHS Trust UK, have said I may not live beyond the next two months after my next surgery,but before the death of my husband we had a plan to use the last days of our lives to donate half of what we have worked for to the less privilege and charity homes and the other half for ourselves, family members and close friends, and it is so unfortunate that my husband is not alive today to do this with me and I am very weak with cancer and coupled with the recent announcement from the doctor, hence I have decided to do this philanthropic work on behalf of my late husband and I.

 

Presently, I have willed out almost half of our assets to several charity homes and to some of the less privileged in different countries. Dan Price is a cool guy, I follow him on Twitter. I pay well above market rate for staff and get hard working employees who get on with the job and don't bother me too much. Every year, the lowest paid get the biggest increase, so the gap gets smaller. It should be an aspiration for any businesses to ensure that their employees can live a decent life, not just that the shareholder makes ever more money.

Very egalitarian of you.  This also pumps up the economy vs the same money transfer disparity to the upper crust, where it is horded or used to increase the gap.  There is a tipping point when too much wealth accumulates in the cream, and that tipping point is not pretty.

Wealth accummulation that doesn't get spent can't be good. Inherited wealth is anti-meritocracy. Neither is good for the economy.
