Here's an interesting blurb on "axial-flux" motors. Apparently they've been around for awhile, and MB is using them in their hybrid vehicles. 500 hp out of a 50-lb motor? Yes please!

The above story didn't have "the rest of the story" reported on CBS this morning (or the info was retracted), but apparently a major concert's wireless systems sucked up all the bandwidth of whatever frequencies they use now, and that's what stalled all the taxis.

Recently EweTube has been suggesting some Neil deGrasse Tyson videos to me, and many of them are pretty interesting. This one is a bit older, badly edited, and the second half isn't nearly as good as the first. I'd also disagree with NdGT's assertion that Holiday Inn employees in flannel pajamas can't pre-heat a bed; ****.
