Loving some CI deep dish...

Morning All:
Kathy has been asking for another deep dish pizza so who am I to argue...made the dough & then dropped into a 12" cast iron skillet...then topped with 8 ounces shredded Mozzarella, a jar of Alfredo sauce, some of my BBQ sauce, a pound of ground beef plus a pound of Italian sausage & some more BBQ sauce...
next was the veggies (some banana pepper rings) & another 8 ounces of shredded Mozzarella then onto a 425 Egg indirect...
About 35 minutes later, done (I forgot to get a picture from the side after cutting a slice)...
One of best that I have done!

There's a lot going on in that pie! Bravo on trying that combination.
It doesn't appear the crust comes up the side of the skillet. Did it just cover the bottom?Clinton, Iowa -

Thanks...no crust up the side, just the bottom...by putting the cheese first on top of the dough, then on top of everything you get a nice "cheese gasket" around the pie...here is one I did last year so you can see the gasket...

I have the pan already. My doc might give me hell about all the cheese 🧀 but I don’t have to see her till December. Definitely mushroom, onion , green peppers, Canadian bacon.

Thank you! Your delicious looking post caused me to try pizza in my cast iron skillet. I've cooked many pizzas on the stone in my bge but this was the first using the skillet.
Italian sausage, shitake mushrooms and garlic.
Layered > dough - red sauce - Mozzarella - Sausage - mushrooms - garlic
and topped it off with strips of Havarti cheese.
475* about 45-50 min"I'm stupidest when I try to be funny"
