Too thin walled to attach locking casters to it?
-
If moving it on a regular basis then just remove the gravel and sand and don’t put it back in again! Those metal fire pits aren’t made to last long anyway!

BUT if you really want to keep it for a while then plan a place where to leave it...not move it and then leave the sand and gravel in. I assume it has drainage holes, if not drill some!
if interested I’ll post a picture of the fire pit I made one afternoon with bricks made for a fire pit plus a metal insert and even a fly ash guard. Total cost? Less than $400 and I know it will outlast me! -
Lifting casters, ones with a lower weight will be cheaper

RRP, please post a picture of your pit. I am interested. Thanks

Here you go. The plans were free at a home improvement chain called Menard's. That tells you how many bricks to buy etc. Then they sold 2 sizes of the metal "inserts" plus the ash screen. My pit itself is 36" in diameter and the the whole thing is 52". It was an easy project, though I had to make 3 trips to get the materials since I didn't have a trailer nor pickup. That is pea gravel in the base of the pit.
BTW I have a lot of trees so I can now safely burn all the sticks that fall on a regular basis so trust me that's a lot and peace of mind compared to a mess on the ground.
