Mandolin Slicer and Wet Stone Sharpening kit recommendations

I'm no expert but I think those choices are fine. You will probably get many opinions on shapening stones. As you know, your skill at sharpening matters more than the stone you are using.
I do question those stones for an axe or garden tools. I use a puck for this type of sharpening. Here's an example. There are many choices.Coleman, Texas
Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...
"Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"

good starter kit for carbon steel and the german knives. the harder japanese knives will eat those stones and you will be adding more stones which is not a bad thing. good price though for usable stones. for the garden tools get a bench grinder
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -

When it comes to my knowledge of tool sharpening,
I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

Just thought of something else I want to sharpen; the lawn mower blade.I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

You'll be all day sharpening a mower blade like that. Use a grinder and a big file.

I have that exact same sharpening kit. I like it. Instructions say soak the stones in water before using (warning, that water will keep seeping out, so be prepared with a towel). That will work fine if you want a fine edge on a garden tool, but I would get a bench grinder to reshape the blades....they have a tendency to get nicks and folds. Plus the bench grinder will be a tool you wonder how you lived without (ignore if you already have one). The mandolin, I have a couple, don't use them very often. Make sure you wear a cut-proof glove or good health insurance.

I could use my deli slicer to cut paper thin onions, but that seems like alot of clean up for one onion. That's why I think I need a mandolinI like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

If you have a food processor, check if you have or can purchase a slicing attachment. I gave away my mandolin after getting the food processor with attachment (granted, the food processor is a bigger clean up effort)Memphis, TN

I have an Oxo v blade mandolin but I always use the guard. My nephew’s soon to be exwife didn’t and she planed the heel of her hand.

While using my mandolin for the first time, I said to myself "why did I buy this?".
No injuries, but Boss Lady and I have used the mandolin 4 - 5 times in 8 years.Large Egg, PGS A40 gasser. -

When I saw THIS burger technique, I knew I had to make it. To do it right, I had to have super thin sliced onions. That's why I bought a mandolin. My knife skills will also improve once I get the knives sharpened.
Also, do y'all know the Amazon hack? When you decide what you want to purchase, put in in your cart, but don't check out. Let it ride there for a few days. More than likely, the price will drop in a few days, sometimes it will drop two times. I saved on the slicer and the sharpening kit that way, and have saved on other things like a pepper mill as well that way, as long as you have the patience to wait.I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

Tracks the price history of anything on Amazon with a graph. You can set notifications for items once they dip below a certain price you set.

The one I use the most is 30+ years old and it's just now at a point where I think I should probably go ahead and take the blade off and give it a bit of a refresh.

If you keep knicking bones in your hand you'll probably have to sharpen your mandolin.
