OT.. Heating and A/C gurus.. Carrier or Amana?

Just found out our oil furnace has a cracked heat exchanger.  Looking at replacing a/c also, as it's 25 yrs old.  Will have natural gas ran to house.  Is Amana a better choice over Carrier?  Is variable capacity better than 2 stage?  Any guidance be greatly appreciated..

Heating company is suggesting the Carrier 96 furnace and Carrier 13 condenser.  Anyone have an Ozone free air scrubber, thats on there too?

I really can’t help you as my house is all electric. In all electric heat pumps it’s Carrier, Trane, and American Standard with the order changing year to year. Maybe one of the various personalities that use the troll accounts will help you.

Best to choose the contractor over the Brand, I am a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, soI am partial that way, parts for Amana are hard to get where I live, but that is regional ............Find someone who will do Manual J/S who will assess the ducting to go with the equipment who will install to code and commission the system to ensure it is performing as designed ......

I appreciate your honesty and fully agree with the installation and sizing.  I am more interested in if one company has a better track record than the other, components used etc... With all the different grades, it's hard to judge.

Most major components IE compressors are made my 2 companies , Copeland and Techuseh unless you get into the Variable Speed units...gas components robertshaw or Honeywell ....i can say ive had more issues with Amana than Carrier , but then again mainly install related
