That thing looks like a tank. Can't see on mobile.  Is it a pintle hitch?

Dunno.  Will find out when I get the title next week.  Looks like 5000 lb axles.  I'll have to borrow a bigger truck when i get over 7000 gvw and the highway.

I was hoping to pick the brain trust here for a recommendation on a sound bar or speaker system for our tv. I really don’t want it to be over complicated or connected to all the things like Alexa and google. Basically a speaker that is tied to the tv but also Bluetooth for connection to iPhone.

@alaskanassasin go to Worst Buy and try them out.  Bose is good stuff, generally.  If you have a big room and like big volumes, you may need to scale your system for that factor.  My main advice: GET A BIG, POWERED SUBWOOFER!  (In addition to the sound bar/system)

If you ever change your mind about whole home audio just make sure it has an aux input. My google chrome cast audio setup was cheap, works with all old stereos and was a really awesome addition in the quality of life category.

Last time I was in Best Buy I was shopping for a tv, asked the kid for the remote, he said he can’t find it and they are all basically the same. I don’t remember what I said but I do know I embarrassed my wife!

I like Bose stuff. Its easy to set up and use and for my purposes sounds good. If all you want it for is to replace your tv speakers it will work great for that. Between that and Sonos I'd say Bose. I just sent my Cinemate in for servicing and it cost me around $80 on a 10 year old system. Much better than buying a new set up. If it was my money I would grab one of the new model 300 Soundbars with a Bass Module 500 the total for both would run you about $750. Its by no means an Audiophiles wet dream but if you are a big time Audiophile, generally speaking you aren't looking at Bose.

Sennheiser Ambeo.  Only concern is Sennheiser just sold their consumer electronics side to a hearing aid company.  Not sure on how much continued support the soundbar will have.  They did just release a Sony 3D sound update, so keeping fingers crossed.  I like it because you can use any 3rd party sub.  An SVS-PB3000 would pair nicely.

If you want good sound and growth options Sonos ARC is really nice too.

I am currently in this dilema.  Thinking about replacing my 3.1 system in the living room.  Miss my theater room in my last house.

I have sonos with a sub and rears.  We also have sonos around the house. Really like it. One difference is you don’t need a remote, it turns on and off with the television and volume is either voice controlled or from your tv remote. I agree with Nola. Definitely get a sub!  I have a full theatre downstairs and really like it (7:1 and projector). Went this way in the family room to get rid of all the wiring, big speakers and receiver. Nice and clean look with great sound.

    I need a stereo receiver.

    80w +

Ability to stream to it from a tablet (ideally something higher quality than just Bluetooth like DTS, DLNA, but I really don’t know these things). I don’t own a bunch of music, I stream. Preferably not always across Bluetooth.

no A/V, just two speakers and option for sub

    Phono in

at least one digital input, no need right now, just future consideration

What brands do you like?  Cambridge has been recommended to me.  Others?
    Love you bro!

These class D amps they are selling now sound amazing.

search amazon for "class d simple home amplifier"

No digital inputs usually unless it comes from bluetooth.

I would also search for DAC and put that in front of the amp.  Bunch of ways you can do the subwoofer.

@legume streaming across bluetooth sucks.  you will walk out of range, or someone will call your phone, and it'll screw up the music.

some of the receivers will run a streaming service natively on the device but my past experience with that was also poor because the interface was lousy.

on one old receiver i run a sonos and use that to stream spotify and a few internet radio stations.  i have another old receiver that's connected to a newer sony tv that supports airplay.  spotify will play through airplay without a hiccup, super easy.

I want to avoid Bluetooth when I can, but plan on getting a small android tablet just for the stereo and leave it on a cradle by the stereo - avoid the pitfalls of using my phone, etc.
