@MasterC let me know how you like it.  I’ve been having my eyes on one of them for a couple of weeks now.
Not Breeo. Some Costco stores in my neck of the woods are clearing out the Hotshot at $199 (online still shows $429), just another option you may want to consider. JIC seems happy with it.
    ooops, $299
Have you looked at the Breeo?  (maybe tou should not 🤣😂) It has many options to cook, very interesting device.
Has anyone used a Burch Barrel?  That thing is very intriguing, and kind of inline with all these other fire pit/open fire cookers.

I believe they are a sponsor of his so take it as you will. I believe it could be a good grill but I'm not too sure about a smoker. The brisket looks.... interesting.

That was one of the videos I learned about it on.  However, as much as I like his channel, he seems to be predisposed to fawn over advertiser products and is less up front about it than some other channels.

And yes, the final product did not look as great as he kept exclaiming.  My wife immediately said, "that looks terrible".  Kind of shot my chances for sneaking that cooker into the backyard.  I was hoping someone here had positive first hand experience. I am still interested in this style cooker, and will look for some more videos and reviews.

To me the guy just comes across as a giant dork. He tries all these fancy ways to cook stuff to try and make the end product better when all he needs to do is use the KISS method. But that would mean his YouTube channel wouldn't exist so he keeps on trying out these stupid methods. And yes that brisket looked terrible.

Interesting device, it looks cool but I am not sure how functional it actually is.  The materials don’t look super durable.

I did not take it that way.  What I wanted to say is that the solo/hotshot are fire pits.  The Breeo is also a cooking device that I can see myself using.

Agree. Also if the fire crew knocks on the door, you can slap the griddle on and it looks like a legit cooker.

The timing is great as I just purchased a Santa Maria Grill. Once I get marginally comfortable with true live fire cooking beyond my Boy Scout memories/tragedies of around 60 years ago a big objective going in is to cook a brisket on it.
I have a weber kettle cover to help with the the conceptual approach.  That cook will be epic on its own front.  Likely a few weeks downstream-and yes a commodity sacrificial  brisket for the adventure.  Enjoy the self-created challenge/adventure.
    Edit for grammatical corrections.

Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Frank-did you give up on the OK Joes drum smoker?  Or just add to your arsenal of cookers?

I just play around in my garage. This is all new to me after retiring from a lifetime in retail.  I have a bit of property and all the wood comes from our bush. We have a bandsaw mill.
I have a table saw, planer, bandsaw, dust collection and some hand tools. I would like a drum sander, spindle sander and a few more toys but it is getting a bit crowded

Actually I don’t, this is all new to me. Just playing around for now
Get a drum sander!  Best purchase I have made.

Yes.  Amazon owns them now and you can pay with your Amazon credentials.  Also the prime shipping is on all their stuff.

not everything is a good deal, so good idea to still check camelcamelcamel and look around before pulling a trigger.  Also keep in mind lots of their stuff is refurbished or open box

I picked this up this morning and will give it a try tonight. Very well made, couldn't be happier. Grill and hook can adjust to different heights holds 20lbs on the grid or kettle hook

I love mine.  Never saw the need to cook on it, but it's the best fire pit as far as I'm concerned.

Back before Woot got purchased by Amazon I bought a 6 pack of mechanical nose hair trimmers for 2 bucks and their 5 dollar flat rate shipping. I waited the month or so for them to come from China. I was going to give them away to a few friends maybe. I stuck one up my nose and squeezed as instructed. It made half a rotation. I let go and it stayed. I had to rip out my nose hair. All six made it from China to the trash in a month and a day. Since being purchased by Amazon you don't find those kinds of things. Thankfully in this situation.

I am not buying this but if you want incentive to sort out brisket cooks on your own check out what SRF just started offering:
    "AMERICAN WAGYU BLACK GRADE

    "SMOKED BRISKET

    $299.00
    0.0 star ratingWrite a review

    Description

Taste authentic Central Texas brisket without using a smoker or grill. We partnered with Southside Market & Barbeque, the oldest BBQ joint in Texas, to create a smoked, fully cooked American Wagyu brisket. This is a bona fide Texas brisket - seasoned with just salt and pepper, and smoked low and slow on a traditional offset smoker using only Texas post oak. Arrives frozen. Just thaw, heat and devour.

    Average weight: 8 pounds"
