OT- new camping tent!

We've been getting more into camping. Our old tent we can't stand up in. Last time we went I told my wife If she wanted me to go with them anymore I wanted some new gear. Ordered this tent this week. It won't be in till middle of next month.was expensive for a tent but she didn't say a word. probably wait till it comes in before I order the awning/screen room for it.also looking at new sleeping pads ,camping quilts and cooking stuff. like always ..none of the cool stuff is cheap.

Had one and loved it!  I just recently switched to a Gazelle for one simple reason I’m lazy when it came to set up.

Looks nice, except for that giant rain-catcher on the front?

A few years back I wanted one I could stand up in too. Ended up getting a Kodiak. Similar to the SpringBar, but the awning is attached, not extra. They are not lightweight small-packing tents! We are car-campers when together, so hauling it is no problem. I can stand up in it, and there is room for two cots side by side. Highly recommended.

@Kayak you can adjust it in rainy weather. I looked at kodiaks also. Those are nice. @caliking I'm gonna rearrange some stuff . Gonna buy or maybe build a fridge slide. And  have some other improvements planned.

If you built the slides for the murder van, you can totally build a slide for a fridge.

Those portable/cooler fridges are pricey though. I got one from Costco, and love it. Mainly used as a beer fridge by the pool, with the intention of taking it camping when needed.

You've probably already looked into solar power options, but even just a 100w panel would be enough to power a portable fridge when camping.

@caliking my fridge is a ARB. I got a discount on it. But it was still $900.I've had it 6 years and would buy another one in a minute if this one breaks. Looking at adding a solar panel and lithium battery.

standing room is nice, especially if you're not hiking it in. i camp from the boat on shore, years ago i bought an african style safari tent, 14 x about 24 foot, wood stove with a water heater, sleeps 5 cots, card table, its heated, im not going back unless hiking and i pack a three man dome with weather vestibule for me and the dog

@buzd504 haha yep. We all have youtube tv, Netflix, hulu, Disney Plus on our phones with unlimited plan.it's really nice to get in the tent a couple hours before bed. Everybody put on their headphones and watch their own shows. Still blows my mind how cool technology is now.

Not sure why, but I think that would do well in the Australian Outback.

@texaswig glad you enjoyed the new investment.  I can’t wait to hit the road again next summer  but I need to finish my van first.  lots on the list to do but I have a goal to finish by August that’s all that matters at this point.
