I paid for shipping ... if it was a matter of waiting months, I'd pay shipping, and I know it could be a bit expensive.

Shipping on a fire box probably costs about the same as the fire box.
That would suck! Depends on how much we're talking about, and if it's too much (say over $50), then I'd find a way to McGuiver it until and new fire box is available ... Like I'm wondering if some steel spacers can't be used between the egg bowl and the fire ring, to keep the ring squeeze together, without restricting air flow that much.  Other option is to drill holes into the fire ring on each side of the crack, and use tapcon screws to secure the pieces together with a small metal brace (or a few).

What are you going to Roswell hardware Ace where they usually have them in stock to hand you? Thats how it ised to be at Roswell Hardware. I usually just drive to the mothership now.
You should check out Urban Hardware in Alpharetta. They have almost everything in stock all the time.

Thanks for the heads up i like to check out all the new places. I havent been in there since it was something backyard or backyard something i believe several companies with grills have been in that space. My director put a nice outdoor kitchen in with a built in blaze gasser but then went KJ on the kamado. I tried to talk him into the blaze kamado but this was like 2 years ago and not enough info out at the time. How you like it? If i ever went back to a kamado that would be it for sure.

I was a Big Green Egg owner for well over a decade.  I loved it and have no regrets.  However, when building my dream kitchen on the lake, I went with the Blaze.  I am very happy with it and very comfortable in my decision.  It never, ever cracks, and it has modern advantages that the BGE guys refuse to consider.

  • Dont get me started... Filed a warranty claim on my XL 4 months ago, still nothing!
  • What have they made the plate setter out of? And what about the internals (fire ring, etc).

Who did you file the claim with?  Something is definately going wrong!

    Northern Colorado Egghead since 2012.

    XL BGE and a KBQ.

  • Well... That´s a loooooong story, I´m based in Europe, so the warranty process is different here...

In short, I have done 2 warranty claims in the past, no issues. Now BGE are saying that I cant prove that I am the original owner, therefore they are refusing to honor the warranty.
Sent them confirmation of my purchase from the original dealer (they are not selling BGE anymore), let´s see if that does the trick.

The mothership is only replying on Facebook, I have called them 25+ times and sent multiple emails, no reply on either.

I must admit, my patience is at an end.
