Protecting the top

What does everyone use to protect their table top to put hot items on? Like when you pull your hot plate setter out of egg where do you sit it? Hot cast iron skillet?

Unless I’m using it at the same time, the Weber gasser handles a lot of that.  Otherwise any trivet you have to use in the house will work just as well on an egg table.

I use SS restaurant style tables. They're great for that reason

I went to a place that sells granite countertops and bought one of their little sample pieces. About 12" x 20" and an inch thick. Paid $10 or $15 for it. Works great as a safe surface.

I have a 18” ceramic tile sitting on the table that is used most times. Also have some fire bricks at the ready if I feel the ceramic tile isn’t going to be enough.

I have both the regular grill that came with the Egg and a Cast iron one.  Whichever I’m not using goes on the table for hot items.

Ground. Poured concrete.

Granite. That stone can handle way more than everyone gives it credit for. My wife hates it, but I do it every time

Ceramic tile has worked well for two years.
